Its a fact in Dust, that nobody has time to press select and have the game turn into the map with a chat thing. My idea is like in some online games the team chat is visible , on the lower left or upper left so the player can type and see what's happening while in motion.
Lets say some type of person sees an opening or a weak point, and tells a few of his mates to assist him. In a fer seconds the men in cover could see this and respond. While in Dust, when you select team chat you would be in action, distracted by the going conflict no one would' bother to do it unless they told someone their in a squad with to check every few minutes.
But if it was on and you could see it without having to press select, would enable someone to stop their current interest and assist. Dust is a team shooting game, by doing this It allows better coordination and help from your team players.
The chat box size could be as long and wide as you make it on options. Ideas, what do you think? Best solution would be to put dust on the PC so everyone is using a hardware keyboard instead of a controller + software keyboard to type things out. Nobody is going to use the chat to say something if the information is half a minute old or more by the time they are done typing it. Well then I may as well fire up TS3 eve comms seems broken most of the time. Still the idea has merit.

DeathwindRising wrote:first off... why not automatically place everyone into the team chat by default? If a squad doesnt want to be in the team chat they should have a squad settings option that makes them exempt. this way everyone ends up on comms TOGETHER by default.
secondly, we need more non verbal commands. Add a player command wheel similar to the squad command wheel, that allows players to request ammo, remote repair, vehicle transport, call for back up at the players current location (similar to the rally point command), and a separate "attack" order (for squad members). These commands would allow for communication between players without mics, as well as between players that speak different languages.
There should also be a tag feature for players, allowing them to tag another player similar to using a defend order except that the tag is persistent through death. This means that squads can pair up into "battle buddies" and keep track of each other, which is useful for players that dont have mics or dont speak the same language. As much as I "like" co-ordination and teamwork, listening to a bunch of 14yr olds act like fools or whine because they lose something doesn't really appeal to me, those I want to chat with I do, the whiners and kids I really prefer not to. I have no beef with the kids playing, but I believe we shouldn't need to have to turn off voice to be able to choose who we talk with, and that is what I would likely do if team voice were auto selected. On top of that, people who insist on playing bad music or hot micing their argument with their mom about if it is time to get off the PS3 or not really do not make me want to play but rather make me want to troll them instead.
