I kind of wish someone at CCP had thought about that for a minute, before implementing it. Oh, but maybe they did... Warbarge introduces passive isk generation, which you can access more quickly for Aurum, and now isk transfers are accessible more quickly, if you spend enough Aurum...
Perhaps I'm wrong and this wasn't a QA failure.
Is pay-to-win that much worse than gradually putting more content behind pay-walls? They both reek of EA.
The disturbing thing is that Dust was getting better for a while. Rattati's weapon balancing was making good progress, and gameplay was getting more fun, but lately... The matchmaking seems to have taken a dump. I used to get close matches somewhere between 33% and 50% of the time (I have a pretty loose idea of a "close" match). I'd say that's dropped somewhere below 20% of the time.
Its low enough now, that I don't bother playing much anymore. I suppose everybody has a point where they don't enjoy a game enough to stick around, I just though that point for me was still beyond the horizon for Dust. Little things, like the subject of this thread, that doesn't even affect me directly but affects the people I play with, accrue over time.
2016, and the release of serious competitors to Eve and Dust, should have CCP's people focused. Instead they seem to be getting complacent or resigned to failing to approach delivering what lots of customers had hoped to see delivered well before now.

I would've preferred a more obvious mention of this in the patch notes or the DEV Blog as well... One of the reasons I requested to be more involved with community stuff.
Let's back up for a moment. The gaff here is showing contempt for the players by not warning them about this decision to place a previously available feature (isk gifting) behind a pay wall. You don't fix that by showing more contempt for the players by offering a patently false claim that we were warned, just not clearly enough.
I need to consider whether I should suspend trades until I know that I'm not encouraging the use of pay-walled content. I realize other exchanges might just pick up the slack, but I would be disgusted to learn that one of my customers had to buy Aurum to use my exchange... I have zero desire to HELP CCP turn into EA.
Kain, are you at all worried that continuing exchange operations is going to encourage newer players to pay Aurum to use your exchange? I'm perfectly happy to collude on this subject.
