Ive been in this test for almost a month now and I no one, including myself, has brought this up. APC's (Armored Personel Carriers) ground vehicles would be awesome. As I see it the APC would have heavier armor and weapons then a LAV or Drop Ship, perhaps filling in that gap between small turrets and large that we have now. It would carry six players plus the driver. I think that atm there is just to big a gap between the scooters and tanks and I think that drop ships, whilst the ultimate person mover, represent far to vulnerable a target.
The Hammerhead (thats right CCP I just named it, it is now mine...I will take royalties in the form of ISK, Fanfest 2013 tickets or a hot Danish House keeper) that we see in the Captains Quarters on the table where you access the vehicle fitting window, like all of its Atmospheric Fighter brothers should have light weapons but also some sort of bomb. Keep in mind it should have a "dumd bomb" though, not a guided on, more akin to a WWII AOE fire bomb then a bunker buster. While I hate t use other games as a reference, StarHawks dumb bomb works well for this example where you fly towards a target and release a cluster over an objective or what have you and "pow kershplat". Good for taking out people, and pissing of tanks. I dont think these guys should have smart bombs, as that leaves it open in the future for a true bomber in the future. These guys here are good for taking out dropships, fighters and people with their bombs and should be single player vehicles.
On a final note I want to purpose one more thing, scout bikes. I think these, instead of a LAV, should be the personal freebie vehicle. A lightly armored one man vehicle with NO weapon other then perhaps a AR that shots straight forward ahead of it. Currently freebie LAV cheapens that entire class. Could be wrong but I dont think anyone actually trains LAV's because of that which is sad because this entire class could be so useful but it being free has made it the Ibis of DUST so to speak. The scout Bike could have a shield slot, a Weapons slot that can only be filled with a Light weapon (which yes means it could have forward facing swarm launcher) an equipment slot (which would be cool for drop uplinks or remote explosives deployment) and nothing else. Its grid would be to low to equip a remote repper or anything more useful |

If your going to start a post with a statement like that you should do a search first because the 3 other threads on APCs would pop up real quick.

Finally somebody other than me noticed that hologram! I can't tell whether its minnie or caldari, but it looks fun to fly, even if it's just having our mercs toss the holo like a paper airplane. No clue what CCPs gonna name it, but knowing the names of every DUST vehicle so far, it's gonna be a weird one.
I wanna see air-to-air and air-to-ground variants when the time comes, but only the Caldari should get a bomb on their AG plane, I wanna see an A-10 style autocannon/arty on the minmatar one, aim slanted down so you can't use it in a dogfight.
If we get Amarr, the only answer should be "bigger lasers, because God said so". That's just how they are. |
