Lol this whole thread is corny.
Since the game began a group of players have always been whining about how ringing is cheating or disloyal or weak...
LOL WE'RE FRICKIN MERCENARIES. WHAT WE DO ON A DAILY BASIS IS RINGING.
Do you pick and choose your public contracts? No, you don't? EXACTLY.
I get pissed when it's the top corps QQing about how ringing should be frowned upon or illegal because they're being greedy and hypocritical whether it's a conscious or unconscious decision.
But when corps who aren't rich or neutral parties start to talk about it, it makes me wanna smack the Quafe outta those Kool-Aid sipping lips.
Ringing IS a major part of the economy and will continue to be. Ringing open up doors for various types of jobs and niche. Defense contractors, contracted specialists, scavengers, etc. It's like trying to deny us a piece of our future due to some pompous sense of "honor" or sick greed.

But you're all ringing for the smallest piece of the pie ever! If we give PC 2.0 a chance you could ring all day and night if you wanted, in different types of battles! However, if we run all the players off who ya gonna ring for? We must make PC better, and more lucrative, than the pubs. I'm all ears cuz ringing ain't doing it?
What does that have to do with what I just said? The elimination of free contract ringing =/= PC 2.0.

What does that have to do with what I just said? The elimination of free contract ringing =/= PC 2.0. Is that what we're calling it now? Free contracting? Why don't they sign a contract? Why are they not bound to atleast attempt finishing the contract? Why does it just really resemble trolling more than ANYTHING ELSE? This whole, "EVE" we just here to lie and steal, mentality might be "fun" in eve, if you're a nerd?! Everyone else thinks it's just kinda slimy?! We're already doing contracting as mercs. I can even agree to let ringers ring all they want! Personally I really don't care, but dust needs new things for PC.
Lol. Aside what people are telling you about how limiting mercs will bring about super alliances/donuts, limiting mercenaries because of some damn sick code of honor or feeling that it's "slimy" or whatever is wrong, at best. Leave it free-contracting or else you'll end up with a very "sterile" system in a supposedly player-driven chaotic game.

The term "ringers" doesn't really link to a certain skill level. I mean, sure ringers usually have less cohesion and synergy with a team since they're not of the home team's organization, but other than that a ringer could still present a lot of skill and even over some skills the team doesn't have without them.
