I suffered from mild lag before dying, then while trying to respawn I was given a 12s timer, and it stayed on 0s until I was kicked.
Can anyone explain what just happened?

The timer sticking on 0 happens to me regularly. I just cancel deployment and try again until it does as it's told. |

I tried that multiple times.
It would not let me cancel.

Ah, I've never had that happen before, but regularly have to wait to be kicked because the respawn screen glitches out and I can't see the map at all to select a position. I always put it down to the match having bad lag/lots of problems with people's ping. It usually doesn't happen in matches where there's no frame rate problems, rubber banding players or general lagginess.
On the plus side, at least you wouldn't have lost any gear? |

I've had that happen to me. Sadly, it was in Faction and I had q-synced so bleh. |

Happens to me multiple times. This is one of them-
*presses x to spawn*
10,9,7......1,0,.................................*waits to spawn*
Loading...loading....
"You must join battle"
"Tacnet bla bla bla"
"It has been noted that you are bla bla bla"
Loading loading loading
*yawns*
"Oh look they are half way though out clones"
*presses cancel but doesn't work. Hasn't worked for the past 8 min*
"You have been removed bla bla bla"

The servers looked at your stats and your kdr was over 9000 so it removed you so you wouldnt make the whole player base quit

Yeah, the CCP Shanghai group thought it would be brilliant to cause spawn lockouts after x amount of seconds onscreen so the decision could not be changed.
