Because the Combat Rifle is perfectly balanced herp derp.
I get tired of seeing that.
The combat rifle needed to be a hit and run weapon with medium and close range capabilities. Not this crap. It makes me even angrier knowing that it has longer optimal now if you're findings are correct.

It doesn't matter, the spread is so large half your bullets miss at that range, it has roughly the DPS of the AR in practice |

Oh, and you can also get 100% accuracy with it at 80 meters with increased dps if you know the trick

What's more, look at the left, that is DPS, correct?
So what we are looking at is the difference between all these weapons within optimal is ~25-50 dps?
That amounts to what, one or two rounds of ammo? A millisecond of damage?
No wonder why AR is still the weakest rifle. Within its optimal it has only a ~3 round advantage over the weakest variant, which is trivial. Then, at 5m outside its optimal, it becomes the weakest weapon by default. 5m is what, three steps backwards? So in the span of three steps the AR goes from not really the strongest to absolutely the weakest?
Balanced?

Nope ASCR DPS has been buffed during hotfix echo, it has the highest base DPS now. If you use protofits many aren"t up to date |

I think the base damage of the proto ASCR is 42 HP now. So with a RoF of 706 RPM (not sure) you have a DPS of 494.
I don't know if the range has been also modified though, I can't get on my PS3 either |

The DPS difference between AR and other guns is not significant enough to make up the lack of range compared to other guns.

Personally I disagree, I find the AR really good, what the stats don't show here is the truly applied DPS which depends on plenty of other stuff such as dispersion, hipfire accuracy, kick, hit detection etc.
The ASCR recent buff is sadly making the AR looking subpar but it's still way better than the two anti-armour rifles until 50 meters, after that the ACR is barely better while the ARR and ASCR just crush it which is quite the intended situation |

Well, yeah, that's been said since Uprising 1.8 but everyone is batshit terrified to give the AR more DPS because of Closed Beta paranoia.
