I was inspired to do do my own "This is DUST 514" video after watching Darth Carbonite's awesome trailer. I wanted to make one that focused on selling the game's tactics and depth using the music from "This is EVE." Ultimately I think Darth's is much better, but hopefully you guys might enjoy this one too. None of the footage is original (I don't have a capture card), and I've cut together everything from dozens of YouTube videos.

I've been meaning to do something like this...it was actually the initial reason why I bought a recording device in the first place.
Maybe it's time to go back into my old notebooks and pull out the original idea I had.
The fit isn't the best, but it was a good clip where you succinctly explain a fit and the various modules and what they do (It was hard to find a short clip like that). The point was more to show off how fittings work than highlight any particularly good fit.
You should definitely make a trailer.

Haha, that was my favorite clip too. The video for that part is weak, but the audio is as you say: "priceless."
I think Darth's is a lot more polished, and he's got his own unique theme going on there which really works well. I could be wrong, but his video seems to be mostly directed as us, the players, focusing a lot on really awesome moments in PC. The audience I was shooting for was mostly players who may have never heard of DUST 514. I was trying to grab clips (mostly base on the audio) that showed off the richness of combat and the tactics/strategies involved, as well as the diversity of suits/weapons/vehicles.
I really wish that song was a minute or two longer because there's a lot of stuff I wanted to add in there and just didn't have the room (like mass drivers, plasma cannons, sniper rifles, forge guns destroying a vehicle, more diversity of tanks (missle/rails), cloaking/knifing, active scanning, a blaster LAV, shooting from a turret installation, a dropship pilot saying "drop, drop, drop" with the recording showing the player dropping down with his squad and securing a point, etc.
It's really hard to find clips with great voice coms that simultaneously have interesting stuff going on visually and aren't already set to music. A lot of really great YouTubers like to add music to their videos, commentary, or don't record coms, so that rules out a ton of material. Also I didn't want to use too many clips from the same person, or the voices would be too familiar.

That criticism is totally fair and I completely agree with it. I would love for CCP to put out a cinematic This is DUST 514 one day. Hopefully videos like Darth's and mine "prove the concept" so-to-speak.

Being the second community produced video yours has the handicap of having to be viewed after the initial hype is over. Still a great piece of content.
