Individuals don't mean crap. It's the corps that are known for scrub group play that is the problem.
I only wish that matchmaking is defined well enough to really allow individuals to standout without the noise of the corps they group with.
A great way to do that for pubs is to not allow premade squads at all. Let these "feared" individuals show us their stuff sans protoscrub group assist. Also, maybe people would stay.
I'll never understand.
How on earth is working in a squad, together, in your best gear, with the intent to win a game, considered scrubby? What do you want me to do? Play at anything less than my best? So that you can feel better?
Its a team based game. You want to be the shining star? The one man army? Go play COD. Seriously, the game excels at letting individual players in a lobby shine. Team based games are different. In team based games, the people who shine are the ones who manage to work TOGETHER to win a game.
You wanna know how to get better at this game? Start working in squads. Get some friends, find some make some, WHATEVER. Get a mic. COMMUNICATE. Call things out. Whining about always getting flanked? "These guys also shoot me from behind, what scrubs". Maybe you should protect your goddamn flank. Use some freaking cover. Stick with the blob, and watch your 6.
Everyone I see complaining about "protoscrub squads" typically have little to no tactical gameplay. But that shouldn't matter right? I can take them all down 1v1 with my godly gungame. Well guess what, that means F*CK ALL in this game. I hope you like the loss screen, you're gonna be staring at it for a long time. Lone wolves get eaten if they aren't big enough to handle a pack. This isn't a 1v1 battle arena, its a 16v16 bloodbath. Learn to embrace the dynamic of teamwork.
Now, even with all that said, Thats not to say that individuals can't stand out in Dust. Frost Kitty by himself (or even with one extra dude, ran with him before) can still make full squad think twice before engaging. Short of some godly skill though, it isn't going to happen. People who can do it are literal one man armies, the ones that literally can carry a whole team on their back. Frost does it all the time, because he knows what it takes to win, and has the desire to do it.
If you lack that, it won't happen. You won't be able to run ADV gear, in only your favorite fit, and solo carry a game. You gotta identify what needs to be done, and execute it.
TL;DR
Its a team based game. Either play well enough to succeed solo, or get some friends. Quit whining about how you can't solo a whole squad. Use some tactics to make sure you fight them one at a time if you have to. Otherwise, stick with the blob and hope that the blues will eat enough bullets and deal enough damage to let you mop up.

People leave matches because full squads of top corps queue into the same battle. 6 players is too many, and it should really be lowered to 3 or 4. These are public matches. I honestly think you should only be able to queue solo into them, but I know all of the tryhards and proto stompers would rage.
Squads of 6 should then be limited to FW, and squads of 8 be enabled for PC.
If they ever limit pubs to solo queue, I will only ever play PC and FW. 3 to 4? I can live with.
I play this game to play with friends, on comms. I've never enjoyed the idea of playing a shooter by yourself with no back up. I've known this for a while. Games like Battlefield, Arma, Planetside, and Dust appealed to me because of the emphasis for team dynamic.
You remove that, I won't even bother. Blue dots enrage me half the time. You don't have to walk right into enemy fire idiots, there is a perfectly good crate at chest height just over there. Ugh. . I enjoy having squadmates that I KNOW will back me up and not leave my flank open without either wounding the target or telling me that I got incoming.
