So the reason SKINS are coming in is because every dropsuit needs to be reloaded in (which may cause issues)
My questions are:
1- I have 100 Caldari Quafe suits, Will I now put them in the SKINS slot on any of my Medium Caldari Dropsuits (& will it be 100BPC or BPO)?
2- I have a Covenant Assualt, will that now become a SKIN?
3- Surely this will now make running Proto less glamurous as you can put the SKIN on a basic, advamced or proto suit? If this is true I think it's quite sad and the only way to diferentiate against suit tiers is to look specifically at the suit (rather than glance)

1. I think these are going to remain as they are - you could add a purchased skin to one but that's all 2. Initially this will remain the same but down the line it will be converted into a basic cal assault bpo and a separate skin that you could add to any cal med frame. 3. Yes |

From what I understand, the fitting menu will have a skin slot. Skins will change the look of any racial medium frame, heavy, or light respectively. So make a fitting and insert skin in skin slot.

When you have your crosshair on a player it will tell you the suit type.

I know, that's not enough. Should be able to tell from a glance.

You think tier recognition will be bad, keep in mind visually assaults and logis will look identical, as well as sentinels and commandos.
Was having a discussion about this early and actually don't mind this change. The display intel is easy to read and the more people looking at intel before engaging the better.

I should just be able to glance at a player to know what he is, what if the'res a crowd of 3 heavy/comando 2 medium suits?
How will I tell if that's 3 Heavies with 2 logis or 3 comandos with 2 Assualts? You expect me to look at each one individually?
I should be able to have a glance and have a rough Idea of what I'm getting into.

The intel display is more than good enough.

The intel display is more than good enough. I disagree that the intel display is "more than good enough." One way to help this would be to use colored text and icons in the intel display to make that more useful. So have colors correspond to the suit tier (we could use the industry-standard "WoW-style" text color for tiers) and an icon represent the suit's class. That would go a long way to improving things from a usability standpoint.
Best PvE idea ever!

Because your HUD is supposed to be as easy as possible to understand? Im looking at the person & other enemies whilst shooting... It's just going to **** people off.

You do realise this isn't some point and click PC game but an FPS? Who the **** has time to read an intel display? I rarely even catch a mercs name unless they kill me. Please, try and read mine, I'll have put a round from a bolt pistol through you faceplate whilst you're doing so. |

If I have enough time to alter my decisions based off what suit you're running that means I'm far enough out to read the intel. If I don't have enough time to read your intel then I wouldn't have time to alter my battle decision anyways, I would just shoot irreguardless.

I think if you have 100 std Quafe suits then when skins come you will have 100 blank std suits and 100 Quafe medium skins you can use on all medium suits.
I don't think identitying who is who will be a problem as the suits will still look the same, an assault will sill look like an assault and a logi will still look like a logi and so on, skins are only the colors of a suit not the form is has. It may however be difficult to se if its a std, adv, or proto unless you point your weapon at the dude and look at the stats.
But I think it's cool that I can make my militia suit look like a pro and visa versa And we can get our favorite colors on our favorite suits =ƒÿÿ
If skins work the same way in Dust as it does in eve, skins are simply a paint job. |

Lol, if you run around a corner and 2 reds are right in front of you are you seriously telling me that you would just start firing and wouldn't have time to make a sensible choice of who to shoot at first?
That's the difference between winning and losing an engagement. |
