Ok Rattati just got extra bonus points from me for that link
And , I don't think anyone is holding on because of inestment. I certainly am not.. I am holding back on spending more , as I invested a good bit. It was easy as hell for me to go away for a year. I have done the same with Eve , which I was kinda still am as the character doesn't just vanish.. since 2006.
I stay around, because I enjoy the setting we are in, the gameplay can actually be quite fun if you let it, and sometimes you just need to be around a bunch of other asshat ego trippin douchebags to not feel like such an azz yourself
Long live CCP , long live Eve Online , and may Dust forever grow with them!!! |

I can tell you that at this point I am only still here for two reasons: 1) the friends I have made that have actually stuck around. 2) the absolutely STUPID amount of time and money I have dumped into this game. Honestly I feel like as long as I keep playing then all of that remains validated so I am not an idiot. I was actually just thinking about how the changes to PC are useless because we have such a terrible player base. No matter what changes are made a small group of people will always run it. This is due to the fact that no one has the ability to recruit PC ready players as there just are not any aside from the try hards who just run to the corp of the week.
I just find that a bit silly, the idea of holding on because of investment.. do you keep your soda bottles and empty cheeseburger wrappers? Doubt it, so like.. you bought your entertainment , used it.. it doesn't have to hold a grip on you.

A good bit of that INVESTMENT was made when we were all being sold on the "10 year plan" and the "MMOFPS of New Eden". I was trying to not be an ass and say that I am only hanging on to the thought that maybe this game will turn into something besides a lobby shooter so that I can finally let go of the feeling that CCP totally boned me and hundreds of other people with what turned out to be one failure after another until they gave up and basically said okay its not going to happen. I have gone through tons of strongboxes and felt a bit beat in the head every time but I kept buying keys because I enjoyed opening boxes and seeing if I was going to continue to get beat over the head which I did until I reached a breaking point but I am not talking about that money. I am talking about the money that was spent on the selling point of an open market, having high enough SP to go into the end game content, having a REAL link to Eve, and many other ideas that are long gone. There are a few ugly syndromes that could be related to why many of us stay around but I will save those for a conversation that will not get me banned.
I hear ya, I have not given up hope. I know what we were given as a vision never unfolded, a very large portion of my money was spent in the early days to help support that vision also. I'm not going to just write dust off and forget about it, but I can walk away at any time and stop playing. If it's still around when I decide to come back , awesome, it's still holding on! If it falls apart, well, we tried..I still have Eve and get to see what else CCP has in store for the future.. I guess if you do not play Eve , and have not been around the CCP scene for years.. it might not be the same way.
I won't further spend , but I have no regrets on what I have spent. Unless they make an announcement that is a major game changer, and the future looks much brighter..then they might have my wallets attention again. |
