Brendan (who is awesome) at MassivelyOP is not always correct in his assumptions in terms of subscriptions. They also make a crap ton of cash from Plex. Eve is actually looking really shiny with UI improvements. My corp has been growing since the last expansion with new players. Eve will never be 1 million plus and frankly I am glad. The sky is not falling for CCP games. The damn sky is falling form lack of communication per upper management. No offense. Eve is shrinking: http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquilityAlso, so is Dust: http://eve-offline.net/?server=dustNo offense, but those are concurrent logins, i.e facts. Now, it's true that quite a few people continue to pay for accounts, for a while at least, while not logging in, but with a shrinking login base comes shrinking revenue - even if it isn't biting right now. Also, as I said earlier, if Dust is profitable, it's simply because no (well, very few) people are working on it, thus the cost is as minimal as can be. No one is saying that the sky is falling, but the fat lady is prepping her voice :) We'll see what CCP can do as far as a turn-around.
Except that has nothing to do with subscriptions of the ammount of money ccp is making. It doesn;t really prove very much tbh. Even if dust is shirnking its F2P as long as players who are playing are tossing money at it, it can reduce down to 100 people and STILL be profitable.
The averarge play counts during a day also do not prove eve is shrinking. With thinks like unlimited skill queue, multi char training, people don;t have to log in as much or as offten. so that number can drop but subs can increase. Thats the thing. There is no concrete evidence besies what ccp wants to tell us to prove eve is 'shrinking' you cna however say that it appears that less people ar elogging in during the day, but thats really all the infomraiton you have there can show you.
for all you know there can be thousends of accounts paying subs waiting for changes to become unmoth balled. there could be less subs, but the numbers you isted don;t show this. So yea. It might show what you claim, but there is not eneough evidence to support your claim.
if you want better evidence, chekc the 6 first 6 months from last year finances. ccp was down around 2ook in revenue. whihc if its just subscriptions means ccp was down around 2k subs.but also during that 6 months was the rouge wedding, so how much was pulled out from players asking sony for refunds on aurum. Again, no real evidence to support how well eve or dust are doing. Based on the fact that ccp was down but still profitable, everything is fine.
Because the 90m loss in 2013, was not really a loss. |
