I noticed some peculiarities about matchmaking earlier today and mentioned them to Cross Atu (in particular I think I found a way to get into the 'lower' tier skill bracket of matches and wanted to make sure it was working properly / couldn't get abused in a manner that allows noobs vs bittervets as I was also noticing some other people I thought didn't really belong there) who suggested I send an email to the dust 514 feedback email address...
But between my ADHD and busting vehicles up with Cross Atu and Kaeru I forgot what the email was :(
I'm not sure that just a support ticket will get things quite to where I want them to go.

Yes, there is a very simple way for vets to get into lower tier matches, and for noobs to get into higher tier matches.
Sidenote: I also believe the bar for the higher tier is not set high enough.

It's quite easy to get into the lower skill bracket - you just change your server setting to 'America' |

No, but really, when I switch to Europe my KDR jumps up.
Does moving from one region to another disrupt your mu score or matchmaking or something?

Ah, now that you're here. Basically what happened was that I joined a public squad and it just so happened to have a lot of newer players, which sucked me into the lower tier bracket - that said I did see more than a few people running proto suits & weapons.
Is this supposed to be possible?

American server is easier from my experience.
Just FYI: When you're playing on a foreign server on your timezone, you're probably playing up against the sleep deprived people who have nothing better to do with their time.

But if this encourages experienced player to squad up with new players, is that such a bad thing?

2 days ago I got my new alt stuck in a never ending proto stomp fest. There was some well known names on that side too... beatin' up on little dudes. Each team I was put on got destroyed , lol.
I know it can't always be perfect..but I found that to be odd happening like 10 games in a row. |

Though I don't remember that being said being the way matchmaking handles the squads, that is the only sensible way I reckon it would work.
Working as intended. No exploit there as the squad has to joing somewhere and it couldn't and shouldn't depend on any single person but the average Mu of all.
IF the matchmaker would look only the squad leader's Mu, then the new matchmaking would be a design disaster and fubar beoynd all boundaries. I trust that Mr Rat has taken that into consideration.

Both points: Spot on!
If hardcore vets mix themselves with juniors, then matchmaking works - not thru scotty but thru metamachmaking as players themselves create more balanced teams!!! Beautiful, just beautiful.

Beautiful, just beautiful. My squad use to do so,mix 3 open beta vets with 3 guys with an amount of SP not over 15-18 million but everytime we face full squads of vets or people that can use proto every match, i cant say they are happy of this..

I think the squad mu needs to be increased, solo players should not be put against full squads unless they have a squad on their side as well.. Though I would prefer all solo players get thrown into non squad matches |

If the new players can't keep up because they got dragged into a higher tier.... yes it is a bad thing. It ain't that fun when all you're trying to do is keep up with the rest of your team and they're going to progress slower because they aren't getting as much WP's during a match as they normally would because they can't keep up and chances are they'll die a bit more because their cores aren't up and they're running basic or adv without the lvl 5 bonus backing it up.
Play the fucking objective you goddamn dipshits.

I like to squad up with a new player and then follow them around and just rip into anyone who shoots at them. This results in the new guy living longer and having a very enjoyable game. I try to teach the lesson that green dots are good to have around.

Whilst the Mu system can't account for who you choose to squad with, it will, at least, increase your Mu each time you play in the lower bracket - giving you tougher battles when you play in the top again (theoretically anyway). |

Agreed, this has been a huge problem for me, and every time theres only 1 big squad in game, its almost always against me. Like me and 1 other vet can be the balancing factor. |
