Fox Gaden wrote:The Bastion is a place for Sentinels and other Heavies to discuss the issues that affect them. A Bastion is a strong point in a fortifications wall, just as a Sentinel is a strong point in the Infantry line. As such I feel The Bastion is a good metaphor the Sentinel. I thought that if Sentinels were to hang out in a bar, The Bastion would be a good name for that bar, so since this is meant to be a place for Sentinels to hang out and discuss the issues that affect them, I felt that was as good a name as any. The Bastion is meant to be to Heavies what The Barbershop is to Scouts, and the Triage Ward is to Logi.
Good call Fox, I'm quite glad to see more of these showing up now they have a lot of potential to be a great resource for the community
Considering the frequent interactions between Logistics and Sentinels I'd expect to see some interesting exchanges going on

I'm an evil and corrupt space politician (someone or other in GD said so, must be true) so clearly my goal is to get everyone to gang up on whoever opposes my nefarious agenda

Assuming use of a STD Quafe suit, and a Quafe HMG, what fits would everyone run for each race? (considering max skills)
Because really, Conan has it right, what is best in life? To crush your enemies with Quafe and see them driven before you while screaming Taste the Rainbow!!!

I believe there is some consideration of giving them more fittings (it was in my proposal to CCP) once the effects of the current changes are clear. Iterative balance and all you know
Glad to hear there's some progress made for them, I find my MinMando to be more useful now but I'm only one player, still very much looking for the input of others here.

- I put the Quafe skin on this fit. What skin would be more appropriate than Quafe for a Sentinel jump/speed fit?
- If played correctly I think it has great potential. I ran into 3 enemy on a bridge when I was in very low armor. I thought I was dead for sure. But then I jumped over the rail and made my escape like a Scout would. Not only that, but I was fast enough to doubled back and ambush them coming through the next doorway and killed 2 of the 3.
- Very Squishy! If you play it like a normal Sentinel you might as well have empty slots. Jump and Speed only help if you use them.
- I suck at the jumping play style. I just don't have much experience using bunny hopping as a tactical approach, so while I had flashes of brilliance, I also had boat loads of FAIL! But I think that was user error. The fit seems sound for someone who can play to its strengths.
- All the Myofibrils and Kin Cats in the world won't help you when your HMG seizes up from overheating. Thinking about how to use jumping distracted me, so my heat management on my Burst HMG really sucked this morning. I wonder if it would work better with an Assault HMG? You might consider dropping one Myo in exchange for a precision mod. I'm still playing with it myself to test out but a bit more TacNet awareness can (for me at least) really help Sentinel play.
Some of this will of course be personal taste, but I think it's something that folks will have fun with.

For my heavy comrades who are thinking about the election, here, is some background on how I CPM. If you like what you see I'd be happy for your support in getting a seat on CPM 2.
I don't want to pull things off topic however so if any of you folks have questions let's focus them over there in the linked threat. o7

Maybe it's just me, but why hate on someone for using terrain in a tactical manner? (not saying people don't do it of course lol, I'm sure you've gotten hatemail for it, I just don't understand why)

Some of this will of course be personal taste, but I think it's something that folks will have fun with. This morning I saw an HMG Sentinel walk into the objective slot to hack. I came around the corner behind him and since he was hacking I took an extra moment to try to line up a head shot with my burst. But he stopped hacking, and turned to engage before I even got my first shot off. I was like "How did he know I was there?" Maybe he had a precision mod. Or maybe he was using a trick I sometimes use, which is to start hacking for a second or two and then turn around to see if a defender has come to prevent the hack. It is a good tactic when you are ninja hacking a point without backup. The people defending the point will show up in the first couple of seconds. If you can kill them, you should be able to get the hack in before they respawn and get back to stop you. Of course if you interrupt you hack you may be giving up an opportunity, so I normally only do it if I suspect there are defenders close by. Could be either one.
One mod, with maxed skills, will help in the right context (such as using cover and sticking to tight spaces as I tend to, unless I'm being reckless ). And it's the moments like what you describe that really give the edge. Having the chance to interact outside of the known meta gives you an advantage you can capitalize on.

You're likely right, and that's exactly the thing I have trouble understanding. Maybe it's my background, who knows, but I'd rather accept responsibility than blame someone else. If I'm responsible then at least I'm in charge of making a change. If I lay it all at the feet of someone/something else it just seems like playing the victim because (to me) it abdicates all conceptual claim to power over the situation... so in essence at that point you're stuck, which is a condition I personally find deeply distasteful.
But, everyone has their own psychology, so if their method is working for them then more power to them. (even if I'm confused lol)

My experience matches what Fox describes above. Also worth noting that the last I checked (though it has been a bit) damage mods aren't truly useful for Forge work so if you double that fit for AV remember to modify the high slot.

I should really give something other than the MLT HMG a shot here soon, it's been quite awhile since I really ran more than that.

By the time that happens, I'll probably be playing Eternal Crusade on PS4
At least you did not say PS5... you still have some optimism. Well EC was confirmed for PS4, just sometime after the PC launch. Sentinel weapons for Dust? We'll see. Eternal Crusade you say? Yum.
I really should play that Alpha, I'm just left with such a bitter taste in my mouth about steam that I'm not sure it's worth it to me (especially considering I have almost no free time but in my theoretical dreams I can play it). Ah well, I'll try it out after release at the least. It has a lot of the elements - or is slated to have - that I've enjoyed about Guild Wars 2 world vs world play.
On a more Sentinel related topic, have you guys checked out the shield thread? I've seen some scouts and logis in there but I'd love some more heavy voices as well. o7

I'm working an an equipment overhaul at the moment. From my own play as I heavy I tend to adopt a "as long as I have reps and hives to feed on I don't care" experience. But I'd like to hear the input of my fellow sentinels as as not to overlook something.
Presuming the nanites keep flowing are you folks worried about anything? Concerned you'll start getting scanned alot? (Oh wait, that's right ) On edge about how often you'll be able to run a Proxies, or REs? (oh, um... sorry, moving on) Outraged by the notion that you might not be able to carry all the nanohives you'll ever need on your own suit? (okay, gee, looks like I'm bad at this lol)
Anyway, point being I don't want to assume. Give me your thoughts my FG and HMG toting kin
Cheers, Cross
