Wait.. so mails older than 30 days using up a few bytes is causing problems for you? Seriously...
This is REALLY dumb move. Can I advice that you do like you do in EVE instead. DON'T SHOW EMAILS OLDER THAN 30 DAYS! At least until you can code your things to actually show them.
EVE only shows you X number of mails back in time, but they're all still saved (hopefully until you guys can code to show them all to us).
Deleting the mails is the wrong way to go. Please rethink and simply limit to 30 days without deleting until you can fix it.

Thumb Green wrote:The part I quoted pretty clearly implies to me that he didn't take accumulation into consideration. The rest of his comment is in line with what you're saying though but that's irrelevant to what I said. I'm very well aware of that if you have tons of mail it can make up a lot of data. I'll just randomly do some math using my EVE stats.
During 2014 I received 2505 mails and sent 890, so all in all there was 3395 mails in my inbox (only counting 2014 and not previous years).
An EVE mail can max contain 10,000 characters (not going to include overhead bytes like subject, to/from since you'd rarely use up all 10,000 chars for every mail anyway).
So that's 32.4MB worth of mails in my EVE mailbox, is that a lot or not accumulation-wise? In EVE they don't let me scroll back more than about a month (BUT that is due to the number of mails rather than the size). So there's no reason they could not simply do the same in DUST rather than opting for the delete route, that's why I didn't really bother to dig into accumulation since it's (imo?) not the problem.

The mails will still be on TQ. So hopefully when you guys have had a chance to look closer to the mails and performance there's a chance for those to be "re-enabled" so that we can see them again? Seeing as "them being on TQ" in the sense that they are available EVE side doesn't really help us reading them from DUST (for non-corpmails that are private merc mails) - or until CREST allows us to export them?
If so, this is better news that they're not completely gone, even though I am unable to do anything with them.
