I'm not exactly sober, so help me work through this idea to make our current Skirmish games more fun.
1)What if maps were broken up into Objective territorial control points? Using the above picture as our example, the entire map is broken into four distinct neutral sections in the beginning (as any skirmish game does), and each section basically the size of the socket. Each team starts on opposite side of the map as usual and moves forward towards the null cannons to hack. Now for the fun stuff... The difference now is that if/when you take control of the null cannon in that area, all installations in that area are automatically captured for your team. This gives a much bigger incentive to capture, hold, and fight over objectives, however, enemies could then still try to hack individual installations. (In the case of Objectives B and C in the above picture, both Objectives would either need to be captured in order to take control of all Installations).
2)What if these Objective territories served as a kind of grid, where you could only hack the connecting points before moving on to another area? This idea helps give structure and direct the flow of battle and forces, instead of having players run amok in circles. It guides people by saying, "Hey, go this way now". New tactics can also arise from such a design, such as determining whether or not to continue fighting for a certain area, whether it's time to pull back to a more fortified position, or trying to flank the enemy by capturing a territory to the side. This brings me to my final point.
3) What if, when all territories are captured by you and your team, you achieve victory OR gain a HUGE damage buff to Null Cannon damage? Pretty self explanatory, once you control all of the Objectives you would win the game or win the game quicker. We are continuously hacking points, so once all Objectives have been captured they could "lock down" the District and either provide you an insta-win or a very large damage bonus to Null Cannon missiles, killing the enemy MCC much quicker.
In conclusion, I'd like some feedback on what people think about the idea, how it could be tweaked to be more enjoyable, etc. I feel that a setup like this could bring a new dimension to gameplay and make it much more tactical and exciting. Absolutely no new assets would be required, only some time to code. Really, the changes aren't that drastic either.
