Possibly the Other Contracts section could be put up again? It could have a selection box for which side you want the same as we have right now for Faction Warfare or game modes in Public Contracts. That works :)
Bear in mind that in the scope of this event there is not need to limit the conflicting parties to those engaged in CEWMPA conflicts. All Empires to some degree border on one another and currently the acquisition of Drifter tech by the Empires is very much so hush hush.
Who knows what happens when a Gallentean survey corporation discovers the in tact remains of a downed Drifter ship and discovered Amarr/Minmatar crawling all over it.

I know I'd certainly like to see a salvage mission type. I think this could be very interesting, especially if it come in the form of smaller 6v6 or 12 v12 matcher being fought over hack points perhaps with a sliding scale of who has downloaded the data cache from the ship's flight computer, etc.
Ideally it would also give CCP Rattati a basis on which to iterate the FW game modes using this archetype of "King of the Hill" in varying sized battles.
Certainly event's like this are good but also need an over arching narrative to really conjure the scale that Caldari Prime had and get us as player involved.

Certainly event's like this are good but also need an over arching narrative to really conjure the scale that Caldari Prime had and get us as player involved. That's why I thought it would work to have said event involve the current Drifter encounters going on in EVE. It makes it more relevant.
True enough however a story arc like this in Dust would have to result in something similar in EVE as well as some kind of end result/event for them too. Otherwise it simply matters too little and is not worth hosting.
Issue as I see it is that Caldari Prime was focused around a central Icon that both sides saw, understood, and participated in. The Titan.
EVE players fought to defend/destroy it. Dust players saw it in the back ground, and were fight to have bragging rights/see their faction win.
I don't see how a Drifters event could replicate that scenario.

I know a lot of people right now exclusively play Minmatar and Gallente because they feel those two are the "good-guys", but what happens when those two are in competition for an extremely rare and lucrative resource?
Where will your loyalties lie then?
I'd like to see specifically what they would do to attain this technology.
We all know the Minmatar are pretty much douchebags when it comes to actually trying to benefit their own people. E.g - Were given billions of ISK post rebellion to stabilise their economy. Used it to build ships to invade the empire which kinda failed AND meant that all of those people they did take back were and still are living in post war conditions.
Meanwhile the Gallente talk a lot of talk about peace and negotiations....but if an intact Drifter were downed on a sovereign Gallentean border world populated mainly by Minmatar refugees who were practically abandoned and left to live in lawless omega cities how many people would they kill to cover up that knowledge and ensure the secrets were their own?
