I got the proto amarr commando quite early. Currently I would say that the proto amarr assault suit is better than the proto amarr commando, but not by much. My amarr assault can get just as much total HP as an amarr commando but more speed, stamina, 1 grenade slot etc.
The proto amarr commando can use 2 proto SCRs, fire 1 charge shot, switch weapons , fire 17 shots, switch weapons, fire roughly 13 shots, switch weapons, fire roughly 10 shots, switch weapons, fire a few more, switch, charge shot, switch weapons, fire the rest of the clip, switch, 2 charge shots.
You will probably kill the first player after firing 1 charge shot and 17 shots + 13 extra shots. If you don't, you have very bad aim. You only need 17 shots to kill most assault suits and commandos.
The amarr assault has more versatility and carries a grenade slot, after firing 21 shots with a SCR, you usually only need a sidearm to finish off targets. the grenade allows you to have a chance to turn the tide of battle when both enemies are smart and are near cover. The commando loses to smart cover users because it is slower and has no grenade slot. It can use a mass driver but that forces the players to prefer a ASCR and a nanohive.
Commandos need more stamina, and either a grenade slot or a extra module slot I suppose.
