I feel very useless in the passenger seat of an LAV or a Dropship, because, even though its mainly for transportation, all I can do is look around. It would be nice to be able to use my light weapon or at least my side arm. If I can be shot at while in the passenger seat, it would only seem right if I could shoot back. I say this because often times I get into a vehicle while the turret(s) is occupied. |

Yes. The only thing would be that for this to work, yould have to be able to use light weapons as they have the range and fire power to actually do damage at range, instead of wasting you ammo with side arms that won't even rifle your target. The problem is, or would be- mass drivers, plasma cannons, and swarm launchers. And that problem would mostly affect dropships because of the 4 passenger seats. Imagine a dropships full of proto mass drivers, or even worse, officer ones. They will rain living hell on an objective. Now plasma cannons. All tanks wild go bye bye- yes EVEN A PRO MADRUGAR- in a few second. And for swarms? Well. This one would kinda cancel each other out as once someone sees one of these destroy ALL vehicles and installations, they will form a swarm squad to wipe them out and it will be a big mess. So....... Yeah.

This wouldn't really work for any precision based weapons (so rifles and such), as it never really does, because flying platforms are not stable enough to be actual good firing platforms for them. However, anything that's not based purely on precision (so any lock on or explosive weapons) would highly excel in this, so much that it would probably lead to unnecessary rage.
It's different for a LAV for precision weapons, but the less precision oriented weapons argument still stands. So limiting passenger seats to only use precision based weapons would suffice. It'll be better than current, being able to at least do something, just won't make things broken. It'll pretty much be pointless on DS's though.

^ now you don't worry about op mass driver/swarm/plasma cannon ships nor up rifles that can't hit your target. Cook your grenade and kill without being op(limited ammo).

Ive wanted that you are allowed to use any kind of weapon from a dropship passanger seat. And aswell allow equipment usage like reptools inside of a dropship to help it. Cant be that battlefield can have engineers repping a helo but we dust mercs cant rep a dropship with a reptool from inside.

So because another game does it, and it's unbalanced as all hell that said game does it, but for some reason few people think that is fun, it should be in all games ever, right?

Its also that it makes little sense that you can't.
