The title is cryptic, I know. Space and all....
anyways
I have played EVE since 12/05 with a years-ish break before the last expansion. I've played 2-ish years of dust. Since about 2 months before commercial release.
My EVE character has ~145 Mil sp My Dust character has !61.5 Mil sp
To me, it's an interesting difference in time to SP. |

Wouldn't really put it down to skills. In EVE everything you level is through passive SP unlike in Dust where you can earn SP through missions, actively playing and passively.
I find your lack of heaviness... disturbing...

Dont forget that you can stack 3 omega boosters and 3 omega passive boosters to rocket accelerate your SP gain trough the roof. We are talking here 6X active SP and 6X passive SP. If you manage to cap out in a single week with omegas on you can get up to 4.5 mil SP and then we have the passive SP gain which nets you around 1 mil SP a week with the setup ive posted. So the absolute max SP gain with capping out and using 6 omega boosters is 5.5 mil SP in just 7 days.
If you could do such shenanigans on eve then there would be mass riots in jita with doomsdays on the monument.

5.5M in a week, hot damn that's nutz!!! I don't doubt we got some running around consistently doing that too. I used to cap out every week with boosters , but now I can't even get but half way... did they increase it? I don't remember it being 750k.
I was also under the impression that boosters only got you to the cap faster, and then bonus sp after the cap..like a few hundred up to a thousand each game after capped. |

No, you can multiply the cap x the booster rate to calculate potential SP
You'd think they'd put this in bold letters, there are a lot of people with this misunderstanding. |

No they do not help you to get your cap faster. They additionally add SP on top of the SP you earn in a match and it doesnt effect your cap in the slightest.

hrmmm, has it always been that way?
I'm not one to say things are p2w.. but damn if that doesn't sound p2w to me, the way I originally thought they worked was not so bad... but 5.5M SP in a week... that's mega speed training. |

Makes me a bit upset at myself for spending so much money in the earlyier days on this game, there was no omegas..except for one occasion and then they were removed..and you couldn't stack them..but I was always topped off with a 30 days active and passive standard boosters. |

If you specialize , SP becomes pretty irrelevant at a certain number ( which isn't all that high)..in both games.. but having variation available when you feel like something different is nice to have. Trying to do everything on one account in Eve is just weird , and hard to do , but some people manage it.
Had a buddy that would be in it all with one character.. mining, pvp , incursions , planetary extracting , market stuff... i'm like wtf dude, get some damn alts. |

First, for the match above:
it isn't x6 skill points. It works like this: {1 + (a + b + c)} = X . 1 is the base and a-b-c are the Boosters. Omega is worth 1, normal is worth .5. So it isn't 1 x 1.5 = 1.5x for a single booster and 1 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 2.25 for 2 boosters. It is 1 + .5 = 1.5x and 1 + .5 + .5 = 2x for 2 boosters. So 3 Omega Boosters is 4x SP, giving 3,000,000 Active and 672,000 Passive a week.
The other thing to know about EVE is that you can increase the amount of SP you get depending on what you train. In DUST, one day always equals 24,000 SP Passive (more with boosters) but EVE's SP is based on a equation involving with Attributes like Perception and Willpower. This means that two veterans training at the same time but in different skills could have different SP as the attributes that determine the skill training time may be higher or lower.
Trying to figure out how much SP an EVE player gets a week is hard given implants and varying level of Attributes. However, a times 8 skill is about 28-34 days to get to level 5, call it 28. That is 210,745 x 8 = 1,685,960 to get from 4 to 5. DUST's system is based on 1-4 = level 5 from 4, so the numbers don't compare perfectly to be fair. So 1.69 million takes 28 days. Compared to DUST, which is 750k + 168k a week, you can see how one would surpass the other. Boosters, naturally, accelerate this.
DUST was 190,400 SP a week Active before the 750k change. With the numbers of 358,400 a week without Boosters, it is actually fairly in line with EVE.
Of course, the amount of SP doesn't matter too much because the amount that you can actually use in a given role is reduced. If you have 15 million invested in "I am the best Logistics", you lose lots of millions when you are in your Assault suit. Sure, Upgrades and weapons transfer but you only have one Equipment to use and you obviously are not using the 2.488 million SP from the suit.

I do that too with my account.
79 million SP on my main which can can do mining, pvp, incursion running, logistics, manufacturing, planetary interaction, hauling, and even market trading.
Then there are my two alts with 3 million SP in one and less than 1 million in the other. The problem with alts is that you are unable to train the alts on the same account unless you spend some PLEX for multi-character training every month. Some people just can't afford having more than one account unless they really work hard in the game to PLEX it.

Dust 514 is much more fast paced than EVE.

true , I initially tried training all over on my character. Then I realized I could go earn really good isk shooting stuff with the main, and then use those funds to plex alts, and then use those alts to further plex more..and then fly around in 13 billion isk battleships. Plex started going through the roof though , I havn't played Eve in like a year. Started back in 2006. I died when blink lotto died, it was the only thing that kept me logging in and earning isk. |

Let's put it this way: "Aero" isn't even two years old and can already max out every single Dropsuit if I wanted, with SP to spare for upgrades and weapons.
Imagine being able to max out every single ship in EVE in under two years ...
But people complain about high skill multipliers and skill sinks so instead of having highly specialized characters we have a bunch of "Jack of All Trades, Master of All."

Eve has a far deeper training system and is also 100% passive.
In Dust a player can have been around for as long as you and only have half that much SP just due to the relation between activity and total SP. |

Thing is, I quit my boosters after Rouge Wedding. I haven't bought a booster since then, so no triple stacked anything for me |
