This weapon needs more range. Currently, with ewar, it's harder for a scout to get closer to an enemy, which is good, but range is an issue that makes scouts extremely vulnerable now. Before,(like 1.8 and1.9) it wasn't really an issue and shotty scouts were VERY GOOD. Now, they are easy to kill.
GIVE THE SHOTGUN a range buff.
1. This will help scouts, giving them a better change to kill their prey (I see an extremely less amount of shotgun kills, it's harder myself as well. It's like everyone is so AWARE , scouts have a harder time sneaking up now. Either they can fit all profile dampeners, and get killed by one shot, or they can tank, and be spotted and killed way before they are near their target)
2. This will make the shotgun a better weapon for other dropsuits. Currently, it's only effective in scouts as they are the only ones to get close enough. Giving it more range will make it a more viable weapon and will be useful for assaults, provinding a new CQC experience.
I believe that it's 3 meters I think the range is. On a galscout it's like 4.
Buff it to 5-6 m and 6-6.5 on the galscout.

Once Assault mobility more appropriately reflects HP levels, then we can discuss whether or not to extend shotgun range. It likely won't be necessary. If we buff the Shotgun now, it'll be OP against the less-mobile Assaults of tomorrow.

Now if you said give the BREACH shotgun a better range, I would actually agree with you.
Would love to use the Breach more often on my Commando (Because that reload speed bonus is awesome for the breach) but the gun just doesn't have the reach to make up for the lower speed.

Wut? I regularly get killed from 9m away... I would actually prefer if it had its clipsize reduced. The breach needs a buff though.

Sure, give it more range. I use it on half my Commando Heavy loadouts and it works great for insta-killing scouts and most meds who come close. I actually got hate mail for the first time because apparently getting killed before you have a chance to even react pisses people off. It also 2-hit kills most Heavy's, I know myself because I get 2-shotted in ADV Heavy Gear. Who knew?

This will bring it back to Scout 514:rise of the shotgun so no. You say it will be viable for med suits as well? Nah, people will dust out their scouts,put the shot gun on and proceed to snipe with it. Sure EWAR is crap now but don't go buffing a weapon that's OP in the right hands. Thing will be broken

I'd like to see the shotgun significantly altered. Smaller clustering, less alpha damage, more sustained damage and longer range. I don't want it to be the "HAHA SURPRISE 3 SHOTS INTO YOUR BACK IN 1.5 SECONDS EAT 1500 DAMAGE NOOB" weapon it currently is, because the only suits that are actually capable of making good use of it are scouts with their combination of speed and stealth.
I'd love to see it be an 'enclosed quarters' weapon for assaults, scouts, and commandos on maps with inside sockets being able to rack shots into people at ~20m for decent damage. In fact if I had to compare it with anything I'd say it should be more like the LB10X-AC of MW:0

Lets keep nerfing scouts by nerfing Alpha damage weapons that they can use to overcome there HP disadvantages since EWAR is no longer an option.

Good idea, scouts don't risk nearly as much as Med's and Heavy's yet they're assassinating them with these OP weapons:
1: Shotgun 2: Nova Knives
I mean, seriously? wtf are those knives made out of that they can 2-hit kill everything? One slice is capable of destroying your shield(stupid) then the other takes your life. Not like I'm wearing extremely powerful armor or anything, just cut right on through it.

Shotguns seem like they are in a good place right now maybe CCP needs more numbers to better judge their effectiveness, this is up to everyone with shotguns, everyone run em all the time for the next month, FOTM ftw on getting those numbers needed!

Problem solved. Scouts are fine as it is. This weapon is regularly used on min assaults as well. This weapon is also common in PCs. It doesn't need buffed. |

15-20 for effective range. 21+ meters gets little to no damage.
