We recorded a day late this week, but the podcast is now live!
http://biomassed.net/2015/04/07/episode-48-what-sickness-looks-like/
We were joined by Cat Merc, Cross Atu, Iron Wolf Saber, Kane Spero, and Luther Mandrix. Jaysyn was unable to make the start of the show, and we had a couple of our guests drop in mid-show as well. We went a fair bit off the rails without JaysynGÇÖs guiding direction, but we talked about matchmaking, SKINs for dropsuits, how skills apply to suits, the CPM white paper revision blog I posted this weekend, and a few other things, like who Gaben is and how not to clean the inside of a PlayStation 3.

Dreis ShadowWeaver wrote:Please enlighten me. What exactly is Biomassed?
Biomassed is a weekly podcast hosted by Pokey Dravon, Jaysyn Larrisen, and myself about DUST 514. It often features multiple members of the CPM, other members of the community, and on rare occasion, CCP devs. It is also now a blog we are just starting at biomassed.net

MINA, we use a program called Mumble and record from that. Skype's kinda unreliable, and it'd be difficult to control the quality or recording in-game as well.

Joseph Ridgeson wrote:Is it every frustrating knowing things that are NDA that you feel the community should know but, obviously, are unable to speak about?
It is. Particularly when I'm optimistic about something, and can't tell people why. It sucks.

Joseph Ridgeson wrote:About the podcast: when something is being discussed that is under NDA, do you sit there and kind of dance in your seat? IE, Respecs were talked about several months ago and you obviously couldn't say anything. However, the panel talked about it in detail. What is your reaction when that happens? (Obviously not "I don't say anything" but "I mute myself and giggle and say 'you are so close!'.")
I don't need to mute myself, I can just smirk silently. :)
I'm pretty happy when people come to accurate predictions on their own. (As opposed to crazy tinfoil theories.) I try to reinforce ideas that are either good ideas or perhaps accurate ideas, but you know, I have to be careful too. ;)

Luther Mandrix wrote:Vents It is important to maintain your PlayStation 3 system by keeping the vents on the system free of dust. Because dust can accumulate in the vents of the PlayStation 3 system, we recommend that you check the vents periodically (and clean them if necessary). After turning off your system and unplugging it from the electrical outlet, you may remove any accumulated dust with the hose attachment of your vacuum cleaner or with a small handheld vacuum. Important Note: Do not use compressed air to blow out your system. This can cause the dust in the vents to be blown into the PlayStation 3 which could possibly damage your system.
While it may, depending, be okay to vacuum near the OUTSIDE of your PS3, as this instruction indicates (as to not push dust that's outside the PS3 into the PS3, it is most certainly not safe to vacuum the inside of your PS3, as we were discussing on the show, regardless of what any Sony instruction might say. Using a vacuum inside electronics can permanently destroy them if you aren't using a vacuum that's specifically designed to be safe around electronics.

As a dedicated Biomass listener I have heard the frustration in your voice... often.
Part of the reason why, is quite often my most optimistic moments coincide with the community's most bitter. (Night is darkest just before the dawn, perhaps? Though I suppose the community's been burned by that line of thinking before.)

I know, that's when three morons made the decision to make a podcast.

Avallo Kantor wrote:A question to Soraya: Have you attempted to get your podcast posted to any EVE news sites? (Themittani.com / EN24 / others)
TMC doesn't really post any podcasts except their own. The Fanfest session for DUST which I recorded and put on YouTube, however, got it's own article in TMC. And actually, TMC's Turk Fezzik, who does most of their DUST coverage just made a guide to AUR options today. (Which is interesting because TMC rarely has DUST articles outside of dev blogs.)
Podcasts tend to promote other podcasts though, and several other podcasters do mention Biomassed. Particularly the Podside folks, who are the guys who got us set up for live streaming and such.
We now have our own blog at biomassed.net though, and I'm hoping that, couple with the podcast, will continue to grow DUST's media presence with quality coverage.

Well, we certainly have yet to see how RSI actually succeeds or fails, as they're a long way from a finished product at this point. And actually, a lot of the things that are NDA for us would be similarly not shared with players for RSI as well.

CCP releases a buggy product - players cry for blood RSI releases a buggy product - OH MY GAWD TAKES ALL MY MONIES
Well, for one, DUST 514 is a released game, and Star Citizen is an Alpha. And for two, I've seen some pretty stupid rage about Star Citizen changes. ;)
