That player experience, the history that is created, is unique to us and it needs to be "real" - players should be encouraged to fight for the factions and change the occupancy on their own accord without having to be further incentivized temporarily by an event.

It is one of the unspoken rules of the sandbox, really.

This event is largely harmless so it is really not that big of a deal, just speaking my mind.

But... the very -concept- of Faction Warfare is you are signing up for a war for the NPC empires. You instantly become friendly with your militia NPCs, see your faction friends as "friendly" (though like in DUST friendly fire is possible) and your foes as hostile. You get paid by NPCs to kill the players, and punished for TeamKills. Literally the entire concept of Faction Warfare is a war from the "divine" NPC factions. Having an event where those NPC factions promote you working for them is no different than the idea that running PLEXs gives you LP, or killing hostiles gives you rewards from those NPCs. Faction Warfare is basically one step between PvE and PvP in terms of where you are getting your revenue.
