But we lack the players to see it run consistently. I bet with a couple more thousand on at any single time, more "good" matches will be had.

Fingers crossed there are no more newbies facing the big boys and getting stomped, so far forum threads have indicated most newer players are getting better matches.
On the other hand, I'm definitely getting more experienced players, best thing is people actually jump out of my dropship at the right time.

Blueberries in general aren't sitting on the turrets under our MCC shooting at the enemy MCC. This alone is a great victory. |

The new player games are definitely more academy like, the odd experienced player in them can push the battle pretty fast in his favour, but in general they are quite good. Though the lack of links slows these battles down quite a bit.
The Vet battles have some serious issues though. People, stay in those battles! If you loose one in the squad, he shall wait for the next match, just to give the Ratt a chance to see if this is working for the rest of it.
@Ratt: You need to take a deep look into people from squads not getting into battles. This is the main reason for squads leaving. Also if people join late, pull them in, and put single players back in the qeue. Also, is there a connection bewheen squad composition (from different regions) to these problems? Or is it a connection problem of the individual players?
Also if these squad issues are solved, we still need punishment for contract violations! People leaving after being deployed should be punished maybe even related to their own wealth... but I think, something like 50-150k ISK is a reasonable penalty for constantly leaving matches. Maybe an increasing penalty is possible, 50k for the first, 100k for the second, and 150 for the third offense per Day. Every intentional leave of a battle should increase your personal qeue time.
And finally, please increase minimum number to spawn a battle, or make it possible for people to join for longer. Empty battlefields are no fun, it takes out too much of the pace of the game.
Apart from that, +1 and kudos to you Ratt, it was due time that something was done about the matchmaking! |

The problem right now is that people are not punished for leaving matches.
And people leave matches. Always.
Usually banned for being too awesome.

I have to agree that if, alongside this new matchmaking, we had an extra 1-2K players on at any given time we would all be seeing great battles.
Now that we have this, can we have 18v18 for all contracts (incl. pubs) please? Even if it's only for the upper MU tier. Even if it excludes PC (for the time being).

But this was never too much of a problem before - people left, people replaced them, and it wasn't always a hindrance. Now, Scotty won't even replace the players that leave if the match has been running just long enough for a squad to get boots on the ground. That's how it seems anyway.

It was a problem, because if a squad leaves, it get's replaced by single players, and that will unbalance the battle from the start! |

We still won many battles where blues left right at the start, or even mid-game. Losing players didn't mean instant loss, ever. Maybe you had a different experience. I'm not saying it was never a problem, just that it is nothing in comparison to what we witness now, because games do not fill when players leave now.

Well, I had both experiences so It obviously depends on the team you have. I definitely agree that battles need to fill up, otherwisse they loose too much dynamic...

It's a double edge sword.. Matchmaking being one of the number 1 complaints in the game...
Joining a game half done being pretty much the #2 complaint in the game.
Leaving matches is a learned behavior from months or years of playing DUST 514. With the lack of proper matchmaking for years players have come accustomed to just leaving match if they feel the teams aren't fairly positioned.
Often names and corporations carry huge weight in these decisions.. Alot of people mock people with high KD/R's.. But often you will find most of their tru competition will leave match before it starts...
Full squads not getting into match after queing up was the same problem we had last time CCP attempted to implement a matchmaking system in Uprising 1.4... You would only get a few members of your squad in together... It is a side effect to how CCP codes matchmaking. |
