I'm working on something that does a cross comparison between rifles and I would like to include something related to accuracy and recoil. However the only related stat I can find in-game is "Accuracy Rating", however the values seem to be completely all over the place. (AR and higher than ARR and ACR but less than AScr....Laser Rifle which I would consider perfectly accurate, has even less Accuracy Rating than the Assault-Variant Rifles)
So I'm guessing either it's just a trash stat that doesn't mean anything, or it's being used in a formula I don't understand.
Either way, if it is a trash stat, is there some data dump we can get our hands on to get information on Accuracy, Recoil, and Dispersion? Or if the stat is actually meaningful, what is the equation that's being used and how does the Accuracy Rating effect Accuracy, Recoil, and Dispersion?

Only applies to dispersion weapons.
Much appreciated! Probably one of the older Dust mysteries, so it'll be awesome to figure out what it actually means.

It's great that Protofits is a nice work around but I know of a handful of people in game who (unbelievably) don't have PCs. Gotta feel bad for them since they can't afford a PC... damn. Doesn't the PS3 have a built-in Web Browser? It's terrible. I rather use my 10 year old computer than the PS3 for browsing.
And protofits can be pretty buggy, even on PC. I can't imagine how it would be on PS3.

Imp Smash wrote:I was under the impression that the accuracy rating was a sum value of how much the gun disperses when firing (the halfway point between hip fire and ads fire.)
I think I remember being told something like that. But that would only apply to guns with dispersion -- so Laser and Forge would not apply.
Regardless, that's just something I think I remember from 2+ years ago...
There was a good thread by a dev before that explained how dispersion works in this game. I recommend that read.
I was initially thinking of something like that but the numbers don't seem to really make sense
AR GÇô 56.7 ARR GÇô 54.16 ASR GÇô 59.99 ACR GÇô 54.45
BAR GÇô 57.85 RR GÇô 54.47
TAR GÇô 57.09 SR GÇô 57.46
BAR GÇô 56.24 CR GÇô 58.77
And to make it really weird, the Laser Rifle has a rating of 53.73.
I'm almost wondering if its partially a function of bullet damage and fire rate as well.
I'll see if I can dig up that thread though.
EDIT: Found it - https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2394266#post2394266
Will dissect the spreadsheet when i'm more conscious.

Actually according to CCP Frame in that post, most rifles have 0 dispersion when aiming down the sight, so in reality overall accuracy when ADS is entirely dictated by recoild which is.....hilarious considering a RR has more recoil than the AR.
I downloaded the most recent data dump from the forums and will try to figure it all out unless Rattati is kind enough to give me dispersion data directly. I also now want to figure out how recoil is calculated as well.

There are different recoil settings as well for ADS and hipfire, the RR for example, to reduce its close combat power has a compounding recoil, ie. grows exponentially instead of linearly. That's why holding it down makes you aim at the sky in bullet 20 or so.
I see. Do you happen to have those associated formulas on hand?

The last time we heard anything about this before now was way back when, was it Frame or someone else who posted on this subject?
Yep, I included a link to that post earlier in the thread.
