In some cases its not the ISK that frustrates people but the SP. Now it is a lot easier than it was a year ago to get SP but it still takes time it get a full proto suit.

why cant every new player spend literally all of their SP on a single suit and weapon to get them to proto and completely neglect their support skills?
why do new players insist on trivialities like 'trying out different things'. losers. they should be expected to pick up the game and automatically know what weapons and suits they like and skill into them. |

One restock is 200k isk and thats hard to manage for a player who only has 10mil isk.
That's why you always see me with advanced scout. Not everyone is rich and can buy anything they want like you guys.

You should have your cores down. Or you were given bad advice. Adv weapon and damage mods will make do for the....what.....the 3 days it takes to get a proto weapon.

Everyone knows it is core skills that make a proto suit good. Those slots are practically nothing without core skills.
Getting cores up takes months of grinding to the SP cap every week. And the entire time, a newb is at a heavy disadvantage.

Its not about proto, its about the type of people in it.
A solo running proto will be eaten by all the enemy team saying "I'm going to FCK this guys wallet"
However, a full squad running proto everything will steamroll randoms and squads comprised of a conglomerate of different suits. Proto just multiplies in power running with a squad more than standard or advanced does.

I'm assuming you're talking about getting the SP needed without spending AUR, correct?
Because if AUR is factored into the equation, then you don't need to wait that long. I have seen people rake in 1 million SP in a single match with stacked boosters and instant boosters.

Assuming that were the case it's still core upgrades vs. adv/proto which still lands back to the whole argument of how matchmaking is still not in the works.

I do have my cores very close to maxed, but new players arent going to have their cores maxed in that 2 week timeframe that you posted before. Another 3 days for a proto gun with no proficiency, and no proficiency is just lol. Completely ignoring shield and armor skills.
Im just saying it takes slightly longer than 2 weeks. and by slightly i mean significantly. |

I think something that would go a long way towards fixing this "proto-stomping" problem is a simple "ISK lost/ISK destroyed" stat on the end of match screen. Even though I die a fair amount of times when I run militia gear I know that I am wasting so much more ISK of the prototype players I come up against in a match. Just killing one prototype suit will cost more than all of the militia suits I will usually use in that match. |

If you're saying full proto anyone that doesn't assume the time and effort to go from fresh character to proto with full pro mods and support skills is being disingenuous.
Make a character at zero earned SP and show me a progression to full proto In two weeks.
Oh wait.
It's impossible even with triple stacked omegas in both slots.
Let's up the ante. Two months?.
No... still not enough... oh are you independently wealthy and able to spend 20 hours a week playing DUST?...

Back in my day getting a proto suit took months and then some if you wanted proficient skills. The only way you could get ISK was through pubs and the color palette on suits weren't boring or gaudy.

Getting into a proto dropsuit with core skills IV is not that difficult anymore, even for F2P'ers. Prioritize the daily missions that award SP, sign-in daily, upgrade your SP subsystem in your warbarge as soon as possible.
If you are willing to invest in a 30-day active and passive booster ($15-ish) then you get it even faster.

A full proto suit can be gotten by a newbie in 2 weeks with a full set of triple stacked boosters and a couple of instant boosts on good matches.
It frustrates people because even when they get proto and grind the isk / lp to pay for it they still get stomped into the ground by OP teamwork.
NERF TEAMWORK SO NO ONE GETS STOMPED. Oh wait we are already doing that by going to 4 man squads in pubs.

you spend 30 mil just in upgrades to get to level 5, then another 5 or 6 mil to proto a light weapon of your choice.... then you still have you side arm and dropsuit to do.....
this is what the new players come up against and then drive's them away

21.5 Mil SP I think to max the essentials in DS Upgrades
1.24 Mil SP for proto light weapon and sidearm (no prof or other upgrades)
2.4 Mil for proto suit
1.5 Mil for proto grenades
But in all honesty you don't need nearly that much into DS upgrades for a single specialized role. Choose Amarr or Gallente as Armor isn't nearly the investment that Shields are. |
