They announced a game they've now shelved and drove hundreds of players away from Dust, which they now say is profitable. Could have been more so, and even just a few hundred more players would make a huge difference right now.
Imagine if instead they had just added Gallente and Amarr heavy weapons and a few other things to iterate Dust and get players a little excited. I remember at that time that players were excited about the next step for Dust....and then the stupid French guy, Rouge, came in and said "Well yeah Dust is dying. Maybe we'll make this other game. You can keep playing Dust if you want to but we're not gonna add anything anymore." A year later Dust has been balanced out the wazoo, has a player base hanging in despite being let down by CCP time and again. Once again, we're left to imagine what Dust could have been if CCP hadn't screwed the pooch at every pivotal juncture. |

If only they talked about Dust at the Dust keynote. 
Instead they upset most the Dust fans with an announcement that would lead to no further discussion for a year. Yup, pretty smart.

Its too bad that FF 15 hasn't come back around for them to learn their lessons and not state anything and maybe have a small Dust round table and have the CEO tell us how well it is doing.

They're good at some things. Dumbasses at others. They're like a football team with an historic offense but a terrible defense. They have all these great original ideas and are really creative with a unique vision, but they can't play defense against the challenges that come your way when trying to establish a game. They just had to be smart and have a little common sense. Damn Icelandic neckbeards. |

My biggest confusion around CCP's decision making around DUST is if you have been in DUST since the very beginning, you will see DUST has had a ton of maps. Even though some of the maps made were flops, some were pretty good yet still taken out of play. In short, CCP has wasted what they had more than once in DUST.

Not releasing a fully developed game and still milking millions of dollars off of a beta was brilliant.
Announcing a new game at the old games key note and then letting the new game disappear after it had driven away thousands of people was a fail.

So CCP messing up is as much a statement of fact that water is wet? Thanks. I didn't realise before....

Toys like those heavy weps you mentioned are irrelevant to the point you are making.
Getting them would do nothing because people would just cry for the next toy. Masses are never satisfied in that regard.
