When: Saturday 4 April 2015 @ 1500 EST / 1900 GMT
Chat Channel: Lecture.D-UNI
Hello Everyone,
After looking at the suggestions that were given to me recently on what to talk about for the next lecture, I decided to hold an Open Forum that will make it convenient for everyone to join in and constribute to a discussion on various topics such as how to fit a suit for a given role, what tactics are currently viable in the game, how do players get good with driving vehicles, how do players get good with AV, LOL fits, planetary conquest, factional warfare, how passive & active scanners work and how to best use them or avoid them, logistics and sentinels, specializing vs Jack of all trades, and more.
If you are a veteran player with expertise on your specialty, I will really appreciate it if you join and give out pointers to any new player out there looking to try out what you're doing or to other vets who are don't know what to cross train into next. If you happen to know a vet from another corp that would like to contribute, have them join us. The more the better.
If you are a new player looking for help, this open forum will present you that opportunity since veterans will be available to help you with any questions that you might have so you can make an informed decision.
If you happen to be a recruiter looking to pick up new players, this should be your chance to join in. Dust University is first and foremost a learning corp and our goal is to help new players obtain a sufficient understanding of the game so they can be able to move on to another corp and better survive in New Eden.
NOTE
Since this is an open forum, I will do my best to help moderate it and make sure it does not get out of control with people talking over each other. We need to make sure that everyone can be heard without having to deal with such a problem. This forum is meant to be a learning experience after all for new players and cross trainers. If anyone else likes to help moderate with me that would be great.
Let us try to bring in as many people as we can. To that end, I'm announcing this open forum far earlier than I normally would for lectures so that we can have enough time to do that and spread the word.
Important
Dust University aims to provide a family friendly environment here in our corp so let us try to keep it PG-13 or at least keep the sailor talk to a minimum as we might have kids listening in.
See you all next week at the lecture.
Cheers,
Maken Tosch Twitter: @Henry_Haphorn
PS: Don't forget to activate voice comms that day so you can hear.

You got someone to record it? Do you want someone to do that? I can be around for that if you want.
If you do, also let me know whether fiddling with the UI to show things that might be relevant was distracting last time or not.
it can always just be an audio stream i guess...
Looking forward to this, sounds like it will be really useful.
I don't have anyone to record it, at least not that I know of. It would be great if you're able to do that.

Mikel Arias wrote:This sounds amazing. I would like to point out that some players, new players most likely, dont know about the forum or they just dont visit it, so it could help if somehow (via game) you could let them know, maybe with a massive mail chain.
I'm trying to account for that as well. I routinely post notices on popular channels every so often such as FW Kickstarter, Learning Coalition, Nova Knives United, and even on my local channel. Since I have an Eve Online character stationed in the same system I can clearly see who and how many are in the local system even if they don't show up from the Dust perspective. Also, sending out a Corp-wide message in the mail helps a lot.

Well, the open forum has concluded.
Not much was talked about since not that many people came to attend. Only 20 were on chat. We did run a squad for one match after that and that was it. I was hoping for more people to come in and talk more but I guess today wasn't a good day. Oh well, better luck next week.
