They told us about Project Legion in 2014, because they were sure that DUST would go to PC, because it was a complete failure on PS3. Now, thanks to Rattati, DUST on the PS3 is not a failure anymore, so now they are not sure anymore. They don't know right now which platform they are going to move DUST to, so they are not saying anything.
They are not talking about a PS4 port, because if they did, and then in the end decided to go with PC instead it would be the Red Wedding all over again. They don't want that, so you will not hear anything about PS4 unless and until they make their final decision to port to PS4. If there is a PS4 announcement, expect to see a fully functional PS4 build ready to play-test when they make the announcement. I am certain they are experimenting with it right now, to determine feasibility. They just aren't talking about it.
As for Project Legion, they went silent and are allowing people to come to the conclusion that it is dead. That way if they decide to go to PS4 it will not be a big shock to the community. And if they decide to go to PC, it will get everyone all excited again when they finally announce it.
What we do know is that DUST 514 is now a profitable game, and CCP intends to continue it on another platformGǪ eventually. I donGÇÖt really expect an announcement until Fan Fest 2016 to be honest. But I do expect the Bata for the new platform to be announced then.

As much as I'd hate to give you Legion-naires some hope, I am going to. There is now a rumor/speculation that CCP is waiting for Rattati to properly balance and develop DUST as much as it can be on PS3 so that it can be ported to PC. If you think about it, that is a very good plan as (1) that cuts down R&D needed to create a brand new title, (2) the remaining DUST players could be easily moved over, (3) full EVE integration should be somewhat easy to implement as was previously planned but was unable to implemented on PS3 version, (4) incoming funds to keep DUST going will also directly help Legion/DUST PC version development, and (5) the length of PS3 support by Sony has been in question since the release of the PS4. The only negatives to such a plan is how characters so far ahead in SP could affect incoming players. Of course, if there was PVE (which Rattati had commented on AI on the round table recording), there would be something for new players to do rather than just going into pubs to be proto stomped. Again, this is all rumor and speculation at this point but should help fan the dying flame of hope so many Legion-naires now have. As far as DUST moving on to a future console, I severely doubt it but I won't go into the reason I have behind that.

tbh i dont think CCP know which direction they want to take dust. they honstely thought it was not going to last much longer, and now it had and its in best shape its ever been in.
they are likely focussing on getting valk out the door first, and getting the core legion code working correctly.
so the reason we have not heard anything is beucase they nothing to say, CCP dont no what they want to do, and are frankly confused why we are still here :P

This makes sense. They can also test out modes and things they wish to do by seeing how they work on Dust. Then its would be way easier to code (as stated above) make some changes and graphic upgrades and boom legion is good to go.

yes, and they could be doing the exact same thing on PC.
the reason you haven't heard anything is because there's nothing to say. CCP isn't working on Dust or Legion much right now. They're working on Valkyrie, and trying to stay afloat. Legion/Dust is a distant third in that equation.

I would like to say both pc and ps4. However i'm not sure if crossover platform would work as I've never experienced it (has it been done?). I am also of 2 minds in that the only way for DUST (or whatever they end up calling it) to become the game I want it to be would be to integrate it directly into EVE itself as avatar gameplay.
I know there are certain games aiming at both console and PC like elite Dangerous (which will be XBOX1, mac and PC by the end of the year). I am not sure that console and pc/mac players will actually be able to see each other in game they will certainly affect the same universe data.
So would it be workable to do both and have us melt each other cross platform?
One thing is certain - left on ps3 profitable or not dust is in a dead-end street and the wall at the end is drawing gradually closer.

From what is understand from an interview with a Planetside 2 Dev it is possible for a game to be on both PS4 and PC and have the players on both platforms interact. However, no game has yet done that because it would be difficult to keep the patching of the games in sync on both platforms.
If balance changes were applied to PC and then not applied to PS4 until 2 weeks later, the PC players might have an unfair advantage for 2 weeks.
So, possible, but logistically difficult.
If they port DUST to both PC and PS4 but donGÇÖt have cross platform combat, then maybe assign PS4 and PC Planetary Conquest districts in different regions.

Then why is it still the most lagging game on playstation network? How many other Playstation games allow you to play with 15 other people, some of which may be on the other side of the planet?

What other game has thousands of unique fittings, bonuses, suits, and phyiscs, guns, and vehicles which are calculated in realtime with chat channels that we can view and voice in, holding hundreds of people while explosions register and rather awesome graphics occur?

As far as a PS4 version is concerned SONY own Planetside 2, i doubt they want Project Legion interfering with there micro transactions etc. Xbox are desperate enough but the bean counters there are ruthless. Looking now i would get a PC if you haven't already because i can't see a console version out for a while.

SONY sold off SoE so don't have the rights to anything anymore so that's a mute point thry don't get jack from PS2 now.
So that puts legion in a stronger position. Because from i can see PS2 us going to CTD due to lack of funding.
Even if the dust communty decamped their pretty much all of us are just waiting for dust to shift over Gÿ¦

[Feedback]
Sony needs to up their game to stream PS3 and PS4 games to windows. The Xbox One will stream its games to windows 10. Source
In any event there are more possibilities for Dust514 to be compiled for any device per Unreal Engine even though it is a highly modified version of the UT3 version even despite the modifications. Anyone who knows the Unreal Engine knows this.
I say bring Dust514 to the PC, the xbox 1, and the PS4. But start from the PC to build a financial structure and use it as your testing ground. Either way Dust514 is getting better.

Actually good sir, SquareEnix has been doing this since Day 1 of FFXIV:ARR. All three platforms, PS3,PS4, and PC all play on the same server shards. I have actually partied with friends on the PC while I am playing on my PS4.
So entirely possible. |
