My question for all you trolling these forums, playing or not playing, Why Dust514?
What brought you to create your character in New Eden?
Just sight seeing the universe(Exploration)? Work on the Planetary Industrial Facilities of your EVE character(Mining/Industry)? Fighting for the Empires(Factional Warfare)? Liberation from the Empires(Sovereignty)?
Being the Bad Guy? Being The Good guy? Maybe neither! Maybe you want to be the richest? (Viktor, Looking at you.)
What was it that brought your consciousness to this realm of Time-Space to live as Immortals stuck in ever lasting Warfare?

People are gonna call me ******** but back when the open beta came out I thought it was PS2 for some reason, remembered reading about it in Game Informer, so I downloaded DUST. Played PS2 like a year later, boy did I dodge THAT bullet

Me and my 8 yr old son found it surfing psn. Wow the dumb stuff we did. Crouching in a nanotechnology hive because we thought it was a protective shield. Shooting mcc with missile turret. Thought Rdv pilots were real eve pilots. |

Already love EVE-O, CCP contacts me and invites me to participate in closed beta, hooked ever since as I like the customization, and it's a nice break from my other FPSes (Borderlands, Ghost Recon Phantoms, Halo, HAWKEN and MWO) in terms of gameplay, the community and visual style.
Oddly enough DUST 514 is still my favorite online FPS for shooting others in the face. It's my cup of tea.

CCPs promises of an actual vision drew me in.
I honestly have no clue what keeps me farting around on the forums and periodically in game. Dropships mostly.

Watched a video a few years ago showcasing Dust and then forgot about it for awhile.
Later, while playing Eve, I noticed on the news feed they were giving out beta keys and remember the video.
I promptly signed up and here I am. ^_^
Edit: I also liked the idea of an in-game economy where you lose your gear on death.

I search for raw minerals... I and my minning tool are wondered wy most of people here shoot and scream at us. I don't hear them clear and they soon vaporize... Hardly says after few years only some junk we found. My gold-rush is almost over. I try roids again.

2) Knew about Eve and liked the idea of the games being linked.

Wanted to play EVE, but only had a PS3 at the time, so I got as close as I could.
Then I got a PC and subbed into EVE, and DUST took a backseat.
Now I'm at a point where my EVE guy is skilling up and I'm back.
Also, I have a dream. A dream that one-day, I won't drop foolish blueberries from my dropship to their deaths, but a horde of drones from my loading bay as my automatic turrets rain hell on those foolish enough to stray too close, launching flares to redirect swarms, linked to another dropship and spider-tanking forge gun and railgun shots as a squad forms up to attack in the chaos of our distraction, to take that single objective, of which on the map there are 10, of which there are squads assaulting each, and all of them have enemy squads defending them in a huge, epic battlefield.
DUST has potential. So much potential. If we can make it to that sweet spot I just know it'll be THE Sci-Fi FPS.

Also, i came into dust by typing in PS3 F2P and this came up, saw some article about eve, Watched a fanfets thighymejig about it, downloaded it, played it, loved it, loved the thing it was to become, and i've been waiting for that for 2 years now.

I woke up in a daze. The world around me had been flipped upside down. My ship had crashed and I was the only one that survived.
I looked down and my hands were shaking, my HMG felt heavy. I heard shouting, and looked up to see a wall of enemies rushing the crash site. I smiled and thought This is it, this is a good death.
I fired my HMG at the approaching enemies, and laughed with delight as I heard the satisfactory sounds of a headshot. I laughed at their feeble attempts to subdue me. And I grinned with amusement as they retreated.
However my joy was ended as I heard the sound of my death. It was ever so faint, but I heard it before I felt it, a forge gun. My body was torn asunder, my HMG left mangled on the battle field, and I was no more.
I awoke in a new body, with a new weapon. The same grim I held before upon my face. The forge gunner is in my sights, and I will give him a taste of his own medicine.
That is why I like this game and why I was drawn to it. I could fly a dropship if I wanted, or snipe with a forgegun or throw off a enemies with an hmg. The choice is yours.
I find your lack of heaviness... disturbing...

3 reasons, my PCs HDD died, my PS3s BluRay broke and I'm poor. That's it. This game officially ranks as the worst FPS game I've ever played. Dust514 took the title from CoD in that category.

A close friend if mine who's an eve fan hooked me up with closed beta access..This to on was originally intended for her I was just gunna play on the side until it became worth her time....she didn't wanna buy a Ps3 i have 4 of them ..
That led to an addiction that consumed my time for 3 years I've barely enjoyed any new titled in three years thanks *****
Then ccp gave up on it and now I'm just stuck and she doesn't care about it anymore lol

It was free. Downloaded it. Played a few times. Left it. Came back a year later to some 10 million sp figured I'd give it another shot. Although it wasn't the same game I remembered. Recently hit 50 million sp and loosing interest in this game again. |

I'm not much of the paTROLLing type, I got here because I love space and military-political and sci-fi. Plus it is artistically inspirational. It's vast, complex and dangerously amazing.
