Right now, I've joined a domination match. Just outside the redline, there are a couple of pro scout making impossible to get out of redline. They have a tank as a support. Nice teamplay, they protect the tank and the tank cover them. At the null canon, there is another bunch of proto dudes defending the point. Same here, nice team play, usual squad with heavy, logi and assault patrolling. I wont give any name or corp because i don't thing they should be ashamed of stomping us, they have a nice play, we just don't have the synergy to counter them efficiently.
So why I'm here, telling this story ? First, well, after several try, I must admit I don't have any fun in this game so I just stop playing and sit in the MCC, hoping for a better game next. Nothing to do other than check forum meanwhile. Second, I realize now that in this game, there are fights I actually don't enjoy. Those fights when you just feel powerless. Those fights where you don't feel you participate in it. Those fights you don't have any place in it.
That point is what I think make new players leave. They don't find their place in new eden. In fights, they feel useless. The idea I had and that I want share here is : role specified teams in public contracts. When tagging for a public contract, another screen would popup, showing roles like Logi, Assault, Heavy, etcGǪ and an assigned null canon or position (objective or outpost defense basically). You would get the objective wp bonus for completing your role. The fact it is purely indicative won't make veteran feel oppresed in doing specific objective but new players would know what they are expected to do, they may feel less useless, as we trust them to an objective. It would also bring more synergy between solo players, making game more fun. As the squad play is guided, situations where a team is completely unorganized and stomped would be less frequent. To complete this, another thing would be needed though : a more complete starter fit panel with Frontline, and Medic as we have it now but also Heavy and Light frame so anyone could be trusted any role.
PS : on that last point, I think the latest Recon fit should have been on a light frame |
