After seeing all these comments and threads about how OP Maddies are, I have decided to put them to the test. I call upon the community to aid me in these tests. Time to see if claims like "Maddies can resist AV with impunity" hold any water.
The tests will be to determine how hard a tank is to kill. I will be queuing FW on the opposite side of my fellow testers. Me and my testers will move to a quiet area determined once we are queued together in order to conduct these tests in relative safety and seclusion. I will then proceed to call in various tank builds for them to fire upon to test how much these tanks can take. I ask for several things from the community.
1. I want people complaining of OP Maddies to post the fittings they believe are OP.
NOTE: I will not be fitting all complex mods on proto tanks for these tests. There is no difference in armor hardeners from basic to proto save for cooldown times. Therefore, the test results will not be affected by using basic hardeners compared to using proto. As well, using a proto tank doesn't increase any attribute other than fitting. Therefore, I will be using basic tanks in order to reduce the financial burden on myself, since I will be providing multiple tanks for destruction. In addition I will not be fitting the high slots. As these tanks will simply be sitting there and not moving or fighting back, there is no need to fit fuel injectors or scanners or the other high slot items. I will also be fitting a militia turret, since we aren't testing turret damage, only Maddy survivability.
Therefore, post the fits you think are OP, but know I am downgrading or removing the modules not directly related to survivability. don't bother mentioning scanners or fuel injectors in your fittings; I will not be using them. I will be using complex reps and plates if that's what is called for however, since there is a significant difference between basic and proto plates and reps. I will make a list of fits people think are OP in this thread, and will post the fits used in testing in the thread showing the results.
Fits submitted are:
2. I need volunteers to provide me with the best AV infantry and vehicle fits they can. I request only people with max or close to max skills apply for the various positions; I don't want some 2 day old newberry with no skills bringing a militia weapon to the tests. Also post either a list of the suit/vehicle and modules you want to bring, or create a fit here and post a link of what you are bringing. I need to know what my volunteers are using so I can know how to interpret the results. IE: a 2 day old newberry with a militia forge shouldn't expect to do much to a hardened tank with complex reps/plates. If a maxed out proto forge gun in unable to dent these tanks, we will have a problem.
NOTE: These fits should be viable to use in competitive gameplay. Don't bring a Gunnlogi with 5 damage mods unless that fit is legitimately viable in a competitive setting like PC. Volunteers can apply for multiple weapons or vehicles if they like, as long as they are maxed or close to maxed in the weapons they are applying for.
NOTE: I do not expect you to have maxed fitting skills unless those are needed to fit your suits. PLC fitting 5 does nothing to up the damage or DPS of the PLC. If you can make a viable fit with PLC fitting 0, that's perfectly acceptable. however, I do expect you to have things like operation, rapid reload, and proficiency maxed to close to maxed, as these directly affect how much damage you can put downrange.
I will pay the volunteers 500k ISK for every weapon/vehicle they bring for this test.
3. I need someone who can record this test and post it to Youtube or somewhere that I can link to the forums for people to watch how the test went. The tests should be for all to witness with their own eyes whether these Maddy fits are OP or not. ratamaq doc recorded for me on the swarm tests I posted several months ago, but anyone with recording equipment may apply.
I will pay the recorder 500k ISK for their trouble.
4. Not necessary, but anyone who is willing to donate ISK to cover the cost of the tanks or the rewards for the volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
Positions and those who have applied will be posted below:
Swarms - Forge Gun - Plasma Cannon - Large Railgun - Large Missiles - Large Blaster -

Got as far as the first part and concluded this is an incomplete test.
Proto repairers and proto plates give much more than their basic counterparts. Include a fuel injector, because that is a big part of survivability for a Madrugar. If you don't put the SP into it, how can you test it fully?
I agree on the hardener part though.

One thing I will say, however:
There is skills that increases repair efficiency. That may be a variable for consideration.
Also, field testing may be a good thing once the control (tank sitting there taking hits) is set. Q-sync a tanker on one team vs. a squad of AV, say, two or three, trying to take the tank out the whole match.
I may be able to record this, depending on when it is. I need to know in advance.

I can provide prof 3 swarms with proto min commando, prof 1 forge gun with proto ammar sentinel (not the best test), proto AV grenades, etc.
I actually tested this a little with saxon a couple days ago but the chucklefucks in our corp made it difficult, one swarm launcher cannot kill a properly fitted madruger, hp stays capped at full with reps until hardeners go down. |

As for Av the only way to take out a Maddie solo is to put RES on it first. My Av fit: Adv gal scout, boundless RES, swarms, and av nades. You have to get at least 2 RES on him before you use swarms.

What times will you be doing this?
I have all the skills you need... I can hit you with proto swarms with prof 5 in a minmando with the 6% warbarge damage bonus - you can't get more damaging than that. I have reload 4 only so I will lose a tiny bit of DPS but it'll be negligeable.
Forge is the same - proto with prof 5 and calsentinel with damage mods + 5 reload. Assault forge to maximise DPS.
Look forward to the results of the tests and props to you for doing it. Do you need people to donate ISK? If someone films the whole thing it will bring out some good data. |

The Attorney General has max fitting and all tank related skills. If you want someone to run the tank department for your tests, shoot him a mail with the best times to do it.
Given that you are not planning on fitting high slots, I think the current fit that most regular AV players would complain about is:
2x Basic Hardeners 2x Best reps you can fit.
The reason why this fit seems op to a singular AV players is that there are no AV weapons in the game that a solo player can Alpha through the reps with. You need to also hit with AV grenades, or remotes/proxies to break the reps as long as a single hardener is active.
I have lost track of the number of people who aimlessly lob swarms at the tank until they run out of ammo or I finally shoot them behind whatever cover they are abusing. More often than not the second one happens.

I can cover plasma cannon. I'm willing to donate a small sum of ISK as well. I will be using a galmando, the true king of plasma cannon if you do in fact decide to use me. Don't worry. Its maxed and it will have a damage mod, but it is still the only shield based Av weapon. I can tell you from experience that before proto tanks were reintroduced and tanks had no passive reps, rep maddies ( with or without hardeners) were god against one plasma cannon.bit will probably hold true now as well.
While slow to anger and occasionally indecisive, they are also capable of harnessing enormous resolve when truly tested.

Proto turrets are good, but make sure you can build viable PC fits with them. We can't say tanks are fine if a 5 damage modded rail can kill them when 5 damage modded rails aren't a viable fit to use.

Just to save you some pain/time: you may want to have 2-4 extra people to make a squad for each side even if they arent actively testing, otherwise you get dropped into different games very frequently and its hard to sync up. |
