I know that Rattati has said that is it not possible to give DS a warning for incoming swarms, so I don't expect this thread to get far. I did, however, think of a slightly "out of the box" method for a warning and wanted to know if it is viable:
- Treat Swarm launchers like a scanner with 200m range and a ~10 degree scan radius. When Swarm Launders starts to lock, the "scanner" activates. Replace the "You have been scanned" message with "You are being locked". This would (obviously) only work for vehicles
If this is a possibility, it sounds like a pretty low effort fix to me (But then again, I don't code). Any thoughts or answers about the viability of this solution?

The problem with this is that it would not be fair. To explain myself, lets take a random player who is sniping, then he gets sniped. If he had received some kind of warning, like "you are being aimed" he could have avoided death. Of course, maybe the first shot just scared him, and he changed positions, or maybe he tought that there was no reason to worry, he could take the damage, and died in the end.
What Im trying to say is that, if you are warned, then there is no point in attacking you with swarms. Of course, I also get that is an "easy weapon that requires no skill to use", according to what some players may think, however, there is no reason to be warned that you are being locked on, because even if they hit you once, you can get away if you are a decent pilot, hace the advantage of terrain, and dont try to play a hero or believe yourself that its going to be ok because you still have half armor.
Now, another thing that I and other people may have suggested before its a module to let you know you are being locked on, but I do think of this as a good solution because you would have to sacrifice something (armr, shield, I dont know), to know when you are being attacked and retreat, but at the same time, because you sacrificed something in the fitting, even if you retreat, there is the chance to destroy the vehicle.
Sorry if it gets messy what I tried to explain, in conclusion Im just trying to say that if you know when you are being locked on, then you would just run away. Besides, you would eventually know, even if you get locked on, unless you are a little far away, the missiles will still hit you. |

the problem with swarms vs dropships comes from non-rendering swarms as mentioned. When they fail to render, they also fail to make any noise. If I hear swarms fired, I know to gtfo. When there is no sound, The SL user usually can fire all of their clip before the pilot knows to react. OPs message combats this, but if rendering was ever fixed would need to be removed for fairness.
