So we got a small presentation at fanfest. no new news and valkyrie got center stage as CCP's new baby.
EVE seems to be forgetting who was here first. we were. the merc's of dust. and I want a new map and game mode to remind new eden that WERE STILL HERE.
So without further adieu. LETS HAVE SHIP BOARDING. If CCP are testing AI atm why not put them in the game mode too
I'd like to see a game mode where an EVE player can hire players to do a raid on a ship. In EVE the player would purchase the raid from a station and during an extended fight launch a raid shuttle to attack an enemy ship. if successful a PVP match would start on the ship and the enemy ships player is given the choice to quickly hire dust players who clone in or leave the defence to his onboard AI
The attacking dust players have to capture and hold panels in a tight net collection of corridors and open hanger bays. if we win it causes damage to the EVE ship or slow down systems cooling off or something and if we lose were driven off and the enemy ship. maybe the game mode would only last 8-10 minute's
I want to see EVE players get raided and have to know that some dust merc's causes him to lose a fight. REMIND them that we exist, we were here first and they better not forget it.
FOOTNOTE: I'm a games designer myself and understand pretty much everything I just listed is not only technically difficult but highly improbable. This is just how I feel after tuning into fanfest and seeing dust being no more then a whisper at the event. This community deserves to be recognised as a danger to EVE It should be. Thank you for the read

As an eve player i would rather see sansha incursions become a thing in dust rather than have my ships ability to fight impaired.
In incursions eve players do pve sites to reduce and clear an infestation which affects certain services in the system. The infestation on the planets could affect PI productivity until the incursion is defeated.
Or maybe if someone elses PI is decreazing the output of mine i can raise a contract for a raid to steal some of their output.

All of those are benefits to EVE players. I'm not hating on eve here but I feel it would be of greater benefit to the overall EVE experience if dust wasn't just an additional excuse to make missions for EVE player to take advantage of
A dust team of 16 players SHOULD be able to both HELP and HINDER a single EVE player in new eden.
The game modes you've suggest sound great but shouldn't DUST have both a positive and negative influence on EVE players to evoke feelings of friendship and hatred??

No, I have never played EVE but not because I dislike the game. I understand their would be some balance issues. I have read some combat can take several minutes to complete. I just think a team of 16 players from dust SHOULD be able to launch some sort of attack on a SINGLE player on EVE.
I also believe DUST corps should be able to do the proposed combat over a derelict EVE ship and ransom it back to the original owner for half its build cost.
I want to see MORE interaction between our two communities. for both positives and negatives to happen as DUST and EVE players fight and assist each other in both games
If you've asked because I've overlooked something in the idea (I most definitely have) please point it out. I'm happy to know

I had an idea for a new type of game mode called convoy ambush. It's a simple vehicle only map. I have no idea how to do it, but I think it will be a good place for dedicated vehicle drivers to play.
Pro Caldari assault and Amarr sentinel.

While I'm all for more EVE interaction, as someone who plays EVE, let me telll you that there are several mechanics to how EVE plays that would simply make ship bording impossible. I don't really feel like explaining all of the details of why it simply wouldn't work, but it just wouldn't work.

IMO the modes ive suggested could evoke just those feelings across games...
Incursions would be co-operative between all the mercs in the match and also within eve as we would make the constellation occupancy tip more quickly in favour of the the players of both games.
Me hiring mercs to attack someones PI might get that person to hire mercs back to wardec/attack said mercs (the return of corp battles maybe?) Or he might hire mercs to attack my infrastructure back (and i will be sure to hire mercs back, again corp battles) and if you are stealing stuff from his PI thats a negative effect - if his mercs steal from mine then thats positive (for him at least).
Whats postive to one should always be negative towards another in this, unless its co operative as in incursions. Part of the issue from a dust point of view in my opinion is if you take a planet its just a statistic - its not like you can do anything with it currently you always return to your room which you live in all the time. If you actually started on the planet you owned everytime and could do this on it that might b a start.
The situatio you suggested where an attacker fires a troop shuttle at a ship and allows the dust mercs to fight for him wouldnt work in my opinion for more than one reason -
1 - it means the dust players would be more of an affect in the battle im fighting that the actions of either eve pilot. The outcome of a brawl eve side should only be decided by the correct or incorrect actions of the pilots i think.
2 - If he fires the shuttle at me what happens then? the eve side fight stops for 10 minutes while enough dust players join the queue to raid my ship? most eve one on ones/small skirmishes are done in moments in my experience unless the players keep on coming back, but either way as an eve player i want to settle the fight not wait for mercs to join a match to try and take my ship. This is why station/structure boarding is the only possible option in my opinion.
Excuse my tone if it sounds like i am hating on Dust - i am not i play DUST more than i play eve to be honest but having spent the last 9 years in eve - 7 of those quite in depth. I sometimes tip a little to much that way. I try to see it from both sides and often fail.
