Ground vehicles dont really need that warning beeping sound cause active vehicle scanners can pick up proxy mines allready. So how about this for a change to make the life for dropship pilots easier:

-remove proxy mine warning sound from HAV's and LAV's
-add the warning sound to dropships when beeing targeted by a swarm launcher

There thats how you do it. Pilots would complain about swarms much less when they actually get a warning when a swarm volley is about to be launched at them. This would make forgeguns aswell again a better choice vs dropships cause they dont use a lock on mechanic and can catch the pilot by surprise.

Rattati has already stated that they can't add a lock on warning for swarm launchers.

Hmm... It shouldn't be that hard for an "imminent danger" klaxon to go blaring away.

 Simple as this

Take a sphere, make it as large as you want it to be. Make it invisible, and goes through everything. NOW, Only two things are needed: only detects what you want it to detect (collision detection for only one weapon, does not "destroy" the object though) and it's locked to the dropship's center point.

We had guessed that swarms work by a thread sleeping every X milliseconds to update the location and direction. Why not make the same thing for the dropship, except it only looks for a swarm missile?

Sadly, I'm just praying it's like blender... And not even I know blender well :(

That, or add swarms to radar. Idk... I'm guessing it was a Coding issue, but is it a balance issue why it's not possible, pokey?

I'm opposed to removing the warning sound because contrary to popular belief, it's nearly impossible to react and stop your vehicle fast enough before you set them off.

The only cases where you end up being able to avoid them are either due to poor placement of the proxies which causes you to swing past them and not over them or due to pure luck, like deciding to stop or make a turn which causes you to miss them.

The only reason I'd support the removal of their alerts is if a BF3 style system is put into place, where they get passively scanned in front of you out to a small distance and it all comes down to the pilot's awareness to see them and react accordingly.

All they have to really do is add a sound when being locked on. Doesn't even have to be voiced

They could code it that when a swarm volley is in the air it treats it like a proxy mine and the detection range is 175m. Swarms are a a object like proxys as soon they are launched into the air. What i was thinking was something like this:

 dropship swarm detection radius: 175m
 swarm item ID= proxy mine

or something similar cause im not a dev. It would not be a lock on alert but a alert when the swarms are launched in your vicinity. And since 175m is the exact lock on range from swarm launchers it would make sense.

I like it, prox detection sucks anyway and since dropship pilots have no counter-measures a lock warning seems fair. LAV/HAV pilots can focus on where they're driving and/or use that scanner.

Not gonna lie, I really don't pilot much so the impact this will have on pilots/piloting I can only theorize about.
