It's a bit like saying Dust shouldn't release on PC because it'll be competing with Titanfall. Just because it's a sci fi FPS doesn't mean it'll compete with every other sci fi FPS out there.
Not sure where you go that info, but it's not accurate.
They have different teams handling different parts of the game. There is an FPS team, a ship building team, a social module team, and it kind of goes on. But they are all SC, and all managed by Chris Roberts.
FPS is not an after thought. They are designing each game part as modules specifically to create, engineer, and play test. They will all be combined at some point into two parts- the single player game called Squadron 42 and the multiplayer PU, or persistent Universe.
And yes- it will compete with Eve and all of their fragmented projects/products. They are both video games and of the same genre. They compete for the same limited consumers. |

No Man's Sky will be the one that doesn't really compete. It's doing some drastically different stuff.
No Mans Sky will be very interesting to see. I look forward to its release. In a sense it does compete with CCP and CIG. But it is not as overtly head to head competition.
I hope Sean pulls off NMS because it is extremely ambitious and for an indie dev, it would just be a great success story. |

They really should go to UE4.
Outside of sticking with the PS3.. sticking with UE3 is just as bad. |

Outside of sticking with the PS3.. sticking with UE3 is just as bad. CCP is dealing with the same issue that a lot of developers are. Once you have heavily modified UE3 to fit your needs a switch that big is almost unthinkable.
In many cases that is correct. Mostly with one off title releases.
With regards to CCP it just doesn't make any sense. To keep Dust on PS3... odd as it is. To use UE3 for legion? That is just beyond the pale. To use it for PS4? Again, would make no sense to stick with UE3.
Another thing, if you are going to engineer/dev a game with a specific game engine that runs a game that will go through a decade or so of evolutions.. you are going to have to face facts that in that time frame you will be converting to updated engines and hardware.
As long as Dust is on the PS3 I have to agree, but the second they use UE3 for anything else it becomes detrimental. |
