PC Port = CCP being able to do pretty much what they want on a system thats in more homes than PS4 consoles. Easier connection between EVE, 600,000 EVE subscribers already familiar with CCP who see consoles as a stepdown and so wont buy one.
PC makes more sense and will allow more freedom for CCP to develop it in the long run. Developing for consoles can be a pain whereas with a PC pretty much anyone with half decent coding experience can release a game and distribute it
You've got it backwards.
The console is where Dust has a playerbase. Also, I see you are still prone to pulling stuff wayyyyyyyyy out of your arse. |

The console is where Dust has a playerbase. Also, I see you are still prone to pulling stuff wayyyyyyyyy out of your arse. PC makes more sense. On a console DUST is limited, can't run it's intended engine, lag and graphic issues abound. PC is limitless. Some games aren't for PC. This game is dying on a console. Just because a game has a player base on a console, doesn't mean squat. The playerbase know this game is dying numb nuts. I would say start thinking more, but your corp says it all.
This game is "dying" because the Uprising 1.0 Dev team was pushed to release on 5/14 for a cute marketing ploy. Then failed to address tiny things for months at a time. They ran people off like they were secret agents for other gaming companies. Then FF 2014. Despite all that, here we are still profitable.
You have 10s of thousands of players that played Dust in some capacity before they moved on to PS4. With a PS4 port FIRST you tap into an existing customer base.
The playerbase obviously doesn't know the game is dying or it wouldn't be profitable. |

I don't have a PS4. I have a desktop and a laptop that can play any PC game at optimal levels.
I just think the port to PS4 first is a better business decision. |

If you think that PS4 has a larger player base, you need to learn some basic math.
While I support some form of Dust/Legion on the PS4, Dust can still be viable on the PS3. In fact, it was just recently announced that FFXI is JUST NOW finally going to have an end date. On the PS2.
This game still has a long life span given the player base, and many other parts of the world using older gen consoles.
Don' let your wants cloud real analysis.
But how do you see those sales numbers in Jan 2017? Just announcing a PS4 port would boost current Dust numbers substantially. How can someone argue that? I don't think you get the same bump today by doubling down on Dust/Legion to PC. |

I don't think we are all here because we love the way things have gone. I tried to find something else to play.
With all it's flaws this game is like crack ******* for me. |

Another thing, if you are going to engineer/dev a game with a specific game engine that runs a game that will go through a decade or so of evolutions.. you are going to have to face facts that in that time frame you will be converting to updated engines and hardware.
As long as Dust is on the PS3 I have to agree, but the second they use UE3 for anything else it becomes detrimental.
Whether or not it makes sense is less of an issue than if the costs to switch engines is exceedingly high. I'd hate for CCP to feel like they MUST use a new engine on PS4 and therefore stop themselves from moving to a new console because they can't afford to change the engine. Wasn't it announced that the UE4 is availabe for free anyway or was that UE3?. Yes, here https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/ue4-is-free
If someone told you they'd give you free bricks and wood to upgrade the existing building materials on your home would you do it? |
