This community has shown that its intolerant to the idea of growing the playerbase on this platform. Why would they try the same problem on a new platform? You guys dont want more players, you want more KDR.
How do I say this so people can understand? Games that you have to pay 50$ to play have more population than our free to play.
Go check Kijiji. "Used PS3, used PS3 used PS3" This game can be played for free by the new owners of any of those used PS3. And yet its not. 5 year old titles you have to pay 40$ for still have more people.
One day the community will have its moment of reckoning. You cant have your cake and eat it too.
Either, you have boosted stats that you earned on the backs of new players, and the game doesn't last long, or you have reasonable stats that you can keep building over a long term lifespan. You dont get both. You dont get to farm new players for a 10 KDR, AND get to keep it for 10 years.
The community chose big stats, short lifespan instead of short stats, big lifespan. This is the consequence. You watch your port chances fade away. |

Last week my friend came by my house, and I had been playing the game so it was still on my living room TV. He asked about it, I explained it a little, he seemed pretty interested, so since I dont care about my KDR and could afford the ISK of my friend playing a little, i let him play a match on my account.
He got fed up after 2 matches and said "dont you have any actual games, like COD or BF , something where you can actually play?"
its too much man. There is a huge learning curve just on the game mechanics. Shields vs Armor or Reps vs Armor or damage mods or this or that. Just building and using fits appropriately. Using a AR against a Caldari suit works alot differently than using a Rail rifle against it.
None of the other **** you do in other games works in this one. Even aiming is all relative. At one point my friend was trading fire with another guy behind cover, a proto guy. The ADV fitting i was letting him use can be successful, and my friend was actually close to killing the guy when 2 of his proto friends showed up and killed him.
It takes long enough as it is to learn the game. The community policy of wielding proto vs milita. it gives no time for people to learn how to use fittings, so they just get frustrated and quit.
How do you expect a PS4 port to work? Tons of people will join on opening day, make their way through the academy, and then proto squads will be waiting for them. After a few weeks it will be back to low population. Its not a sustainable system.
If you want a port tomorrow, people should focus on achieving growth on THIS platform today. Its not impossible, summer is coming up, alot of PS3s are hitting the secondary market, which means people without large game libraries will be buying them...... |
