Good games do tend to be niche on PC while people mostly go for jokes like hearthstone, farming simulator, goat simulator and Stuff like CSGO, runescape etc. I don't like Blizzard as a company, but Hearthstone is one of the best online CCG's ever made.
Sins of a Solar Empire is a real-time strategy game from Stardock. Lichdom: Battlemage is an FPS where you are a spellcasting badass mage. Pillars of Eternity is a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate franchise. All PC exclusives, all great games.
In short, you have no idea what you are talking about if you think PC games are "niche" and jokes.
Also, CCP furiously masturbates every night to earning a fraction of the income and fanbase that CSGO has.

Look at what Star Citizen did with Kickstarter! Their goal was 2-4 million and they're rolling in deep pockets at 74.8 million and still climbing.
There are SO MANY EVE players and EVE has been around forever and if CCP whipped up a sweet looking trailer with some actual LEGION assets or future DUST assets and gave at least a basic game plan....I bet they could have deep pockets too in no time.
I'd donate! I'd be thrilled to donate! I'd be foaming at the mouth to donate!
And then they could hit the turbo button and hire some devs, expand the team and kick this place up a notch or three! Crowdfunding should be reserved for companies that are just getting on their feet, not CCP, who has been in business for over a decade. If you want to contribute then buy some encrypted keys every week or so. It accomplishes roughly the same thing.
