Don't get your hopes up bro, he said rudimentary AI, and that it's far from being implemented. It's experimental.
They probalbly took the drone art assets of the old dust trailers and use some sort of simple turret AI to make them fire on the players. He even said you would be able to move back and they stop to shoot... So basically just like turrets that look like drones. Maybe moving on premade paths (but that's already speculation on my side).
Edit: I would however like this, especcially if they could iterate on that, and bring a proper drone infestation mode in later versions... but not very probable, and I'm already starting to get my hopes up.... bad merc... really bad merc! |

My guess is that they already had the drone mode in the works, so he at least has some art assets to work with. But without somebody who knows how to programm stuff like that, it has to be as simple as possible. Which also makes it impossible to use it to earn isk, since it would be to easy if they have no proper AI to shoot back effectively.
