I started playing this game because I was under the impression I was going to be helping people in Eve take over planets or whatever it is they do. For the longest time I thought that was exactly what I was doing in FW matches due to the end-of-match screen telling me that x% of a district has been taken over.
I am now being told that FW matches have no direct effect in the Eve galaxy which makes me wonder why the hell FW matches even exist.
I want to play in PC matches. I want to help the Gallente take over the entire Eve galaxy. How do I make this happen? |

making your own pc corp or being good enough to be picked up as a ringer is the harder way to go.

Two things.
Planetary Conquest is for Corporations, so join one that is big and handles PC.
Two, us Gallente don't want to take over the galaxy, that is Cal and Amarr territory. Those dam warmongers. We are more pacifistic and democratic. But we are known to defend liberty when needed.

Don't even begin to lie to yourself.
It may be something the Amarr want but the dreams of the Federation are no less Imperialistic..... plus maligning the Caldari as conquerors would be very much so against their character. They just want to be left alone to do that whole....self determination thing.
Calling the Federation a pacifist nation would be tantamount to suggesting the Caldari had a sense of humour.

PC has no effect of FW.
If you want to join PC, find a corp that does PC and join them.
Dust Charts is a great way of seeing who holds how much land, and when their fights will be (Timers are listed on the districts).
Also: Be prepared for a whole different ballpark. PC is no holds barred. People will pull out their try hardest fits and fight you to the nail to defend/take districts.
PC will also make you a better player.
Best of Luck.

I have seen some Caldari laugh, not all are rigid. Just 99%. And please, Cal wanting to be left alone? They aren't the Jove, True. They never would've attacked us if they wanted to be left alone, they have more blood on their hands than us. I never said we are purely pacifists, I know of our history, I know the gruesome stories, but we are more pacifistic than being something of galaxy conquerers.

To the OP: The easiest and basically only way that is going to happen is to get into a corporation that does PC. After that, the hard part begins. You have to make yourself known. Get into a few corporation squads, always be calling out in chat "LFM" or "LFS" so they know you are active. Get really good at the game and let people see that. Don't just say "I am really good!", show that by consistently getting top KDA or WP at the end of the match when your corporation is there.
Another big one is to send the CEO a message along the lines of "Hey, I am looking to get into some PC matches. I was wondering what would be a good role to skill into that would be most helpful. I can practice that role and if you ever need a man, let me know." Just let's them know you are looking to get in without being too pushy.

Then you are more that fully aware the Federation was willing to orbitally bombard Caldari Prime from orbit. Regardless of the circumstances that is not a pacifist act.

So you are saying what the Cal did before that was totally justifiable and had no cause for retaliation, regardless of the situation? I agree, total OB is extreme, should've been handled in a more democratic situation, but what the Cal did was extreme as well.

It's not about justification its about their inherent nature and the fact that they are currently led by a militaristic President who also runs an arms business on the side.
The issue is one of tit for tat where both sides feel culturally slighted, the Caldari for being forced to carry the weight of others when no others would carry their burdens, and the Gallente for having the perception of a cultural utopia spoilt by those who did not subscribe to their tenets.
Accept what you are first before attempting to malign others.More to the point do the Amarr enter anyone's space and name them slaves? The answer at this time is no, not legally, and is that criminal status reserved solely for Amarr when all the empires do... this

Faction Warfare does have a direct impact on Eve Online. The more districts your faction controls through winning in Dust, the less effort is needed for your faction in Eve Online to put the local star system controlled by the opposing side into a contested state which can then be conquered by your faction or taken back by the defenders in Eve. If the local star system happens to already be controlled by your faction in Eve, then controlling more districts in Dust will make it harder for your opponent to put it into a contested state back in Eve.

I already have all the proto stuff down.
As for my role, I only have one role. I use the Gallente Assault suit with a Breach Assault Rifle or Assault Combat Rifle and I charge at the enemy and kill them. That is not to say I go on suicide runs. I'm cautious and I think things through but I do take chances if I feel the possible benefit is worth it.
The squad thing might be my issue. I have never played with a squad. I have thought about it a few times but I never followed through with it. I have an overall negative view of squads and I think I got that view from reading on the forums how dependent so many people are on squads to succeed at this game. Now my mindset on squads I believe falls with public matches. I can see the necessity of squads when it comes to FW and PC matches.

The lone gun thing is okay for some corps. Most teams will want you with your squad to create concentrated fire and a focused effort.
The amazeballs slayers can get asked to harass points they aren't interested in taking, or working a point they aren't interested in holding. These players are rare, but if you're at that level, ringing may be your thing.
Teamwork however, and following what your Field Commander wants are paramount. It's not a pub match. Running around doing your own thing isn't smiled upon when your team is trying to accomplish certain goals.
Sometimes clone conservation is what the match is going to boil down to. Sometimes it's taking a point in a clutch play. Listening to the changing tactics on the battlefield and reacting properly will get you more props than anything.

FW has a small effect on Eve. It adjusts the difficulty for the system to be taken.
No one in Eve cares or even notices this difference.

I am more of a solo player than I am a lone gunman (in my mind there is a difference). When I play a match I treat my entire team as my squad in a sense. I always try to stick with my team and I always try to pay attention to exactly what my team is doing so I can act accordingly. I'm not all that big into running around the map by myself...sometimes it's too risky.
I don't think I will have any problem taking orders from a squad leader so long as I feel that the squad leader is capable of leading the team to victory.

PC has no effect on EVE either, and factions cannot hold districts, only corporations can take districts, farm them for isk and boost
Do you know of a Gallente-only Corporation that does PC?
Even though I don't know very much about the background of the different factions and stuff I want to try to stick with the story line. I know the Gallente do not like the Amaar so I would like to never fight on the same side as the Amaar. |

Summa,
My advice is twofold:
#1 - Read carefully Remmy's words. He's dead on accurate, from where I sit. #2 - Apply to ML. We'll accept you, and we make it a point of giving people chances to do PC. If not ML, one of the active PC corps where you perhaps have some in-game friends.
Good luck...Leadfoot |
