I already have all the proto stuff down.
As for my role, I only have one role. I use the Gallente Assault suit with a Breach Assault Rifle or Assault Combat Rifle and I charge at the enemy and kill them. That is not to say I go on suicide runs. I'm cautious and I think things through but I do take chances if I feel the possible benefit is worth it.
The squad thing might be my issue. I have never played with a squad. I have thought about it a few times but I never followed through with it. I have an overall negative view of squads and I think I got that view from reading on the forums how dependent so many people are on squads to succeed at this game. Now my mindset on squads I believe falls with public matches. I can see the necessity of squads when it comes to FW and PC matches.

The lone gun thing is okay for some corps. Most teams will want you with your squad to create concentrated fire and a focused effort.
The amazeballs slayers can get asked to harass points they aren't interested in taking, or working a point they aren't interested in holding. These players are rare, but if you're at that level, ringing may be your thing.
Teamwork however, and following what your Field Commander wants are paramount. It's not a pub match. Running around doing your own thing isn't smiled upon when your team is trying to accomplish certain goals.
Sometimes clone conservation is what the match is going to boil down to. Sometimes it's taking a point in a clutch play. Listening to the changing tactics on the battlefield and reacting properly will get you more props than anything.
