Back when uprising launched along with PC i thought to myself. Man i gotta do something about this terrible frame rate and horrible aiming mechanics i can not take it anymore. I tried many things. Different ps3, different tv/monitor. ps3 and in game settings. This was all the work trough out that one year 2013 that i did to make this game run better.
Anyone remembers how freaking terrible the aiming mechanics where back in the beginning of uprising?. So i switched to 480p and that worked wonders not as much as today but that really seemed to alleviate the problem. Aiming became smoother along with aim assist turned off and frame rate also became much better but at the trade off terrible rendering from far away objects. Still it would drop to below 10 frames after one game which meant it was time to reset the ps3. To fix this i went to frys and got a
sandisk 64gb ssd. Not all but most PC maps now became playable with a stable 15-20 fps. Pubs ran relatively smoother around above 20 fps all the time with no hiccups no nothing except lag facility like always. Which was good. The ssd helped its purpose.I no longer had to constantly do a full reset every PC game. Now it was every 3 or 5 games before everything went to poop again. But that was during full on tryhard wars like vs tp, fa, oh. Today i dont really find the need to reset...
Then i went and bought this monitor
rl2455hm. The amount of options that this monitor offers is scary. Let me tell you that this thing changed how dust felt compared when playing on a tv or my dell monitor which is what i used in chromosome and the beginning of uprising.
This benq monitor once you put RTS 2 mode or game mode with over scan turned on. Aiming mechanics feel so responsive and smooth as if there aren't any problems at all. Public matches feel like they are running at 30 fps and 20 fps for PC. Today i would still recommend playing at 480p if you can get past the ugliness and the bad rendering but you will get smoother aiming. I already got used to it and barely notice.
Now that i got the superficial stuff out of the way there is something wrong with the detail and texture settings on the in game options. They are bugged or at least to me they feel like they are bugged. If you set them both at high you actually get smoother aiming than if you set it at low.
i haven't really gotten any problems while playing planetary conquest except the usual bad frame rate in lag city when it was in PC. Other maps nothing too crazy. Maybe the extreme rare case of 5 frames per second. Last time it happened was about a month ago during the mushroom map.... Public matches are no problem at all. The only problems i ever encounter is when i DC and that is CCP's fault not mine because i have over 100mbps and the router is wired to my ps3. Though it doesn't really matter if you have really good internet because the ps3 only takes 29mbps. My ps3 is the super slim. Supposedly the "worst" performing ps3 out of the three. The rest has been spoken already. Reformatting, re installing the client, less chat channels, deleting contacts/messages, you know the usual stuff. Also helps your ps3 for better performance.
I experimented and tried many different things during that year to make this game work. As far as this goes.. this is the most performance you could suck out of this game. Would i spend the money as i did back then? no. Back then i had no idea this game would be canned at ff14. On the bright side i now have a decent monitor still nothing compared to those 144hz's ones but a 60hz with a 1ms imput lag is good enough for a console to handle. There is many more stuff to talk about that i did not wrote. Dust is such a strange game i tell ya. You do one thing and affects another.
