I love the new changes to the AHMG, but it still suffers from the same problem it always has.
It's difficult to use at range(you know, the entire point of it) because thanks to the massive reticle a fair portion of your bullets are going to miss.
Now with the much slower RoF and lower magazine capacity, missing is even more of a problem.
Being able to kill an enemy at range is even starting to almost feel like RNG. More than a few times now I've engaged an enemy at range, gotten them down to a tiny bit of armor, but the last bullet or two I need to kill them with just refuses to hit them and the engagement ends in my demise.
Either;
A) Simply make the reticle/firing cone smaller
B) Increase the rate at which the AHMG gets more accurate, because it fires so slow and not long enough for the HMG's "increase accuracy as you fire" mechanic to even work.

I think the idea is that because it is good at AV as well, it shouldn't be as good at AI as the other HMGs.
Seems to be working as intended. Its still better than the Plasma Cannon at both, so I don't see any reason to complain about it...

So you saw the AHMG eat through a tank or ADS? Yeah, I call BS.
All the HMGs got hit very hard with the nerf hammer and the blue being added to expand the gaps made it worse. I think if half the ammo is going to miss, then turn down the heat. So many bullets are missing lately anyways which is where the real TTK for infantry was. If you die to an HMG now, you either were trying to shotgun or refused to pick it apart at 10 meters out.
I used to be a heavy, now I am back to the FOTM Min assault because heavies need a CR/RR/SCR to engage enemies. Might as well get your bonuses and keep some movement to escape the vantage point raining mass drivers.
Now to start shotgunning and REing again, everyone will love this play style. Face Palm!

AHMG's are useful against the current targets at the moment.
Any and all infantry within 5m. Hits like a truck.
LAV's
Tanks without shields or hardeners. I've dropped a Gunnlogi before by smacking off its shields with a Packed, and shredding his armor. This is why you run boosters.
Dropships that get too close (Once again without shields)
I like it where its at. If anything, extra viability against ADS's is appreciated. No decent pilot gets in range for me to break its shield regen.
On the bright side, Mythtanker and I did happen to ambush one as it was running from AV.
"AA READY!!" We both crouched and fired AHMG as he flew over our heads
*DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT DAT*
Watching him fall from the sky was SOOOOOOO freaking cool. Did a bro punch afterwards.

Randomly noticed while scrolling the marketplace that there is no AUR A-HMG, also something still on the way right? Nice for the guys that buy weapons with AUR but also nice for strongboxes, since those usually contain AUR type weapons. |

Sounds cool, but you can't have a packed RE on a heavy. Just saying, you had a second suit AV down a tank. I agree the AHMG mows down infantry at 5m but it is supposed to be used at 40m. I swapped my AMAR Sent for a mando with laser and SCR. It eats people now. No need for the HMG really.

If they where to increase it it would be better the the standard and would make the standard obsolet

Problem is that it really isn't all that good at AV, or AI.
Point blank, yea, it can assist in the destruction of a tank. But the tank has to be content to sit still and not move at all. It takes all of 1.5 seconds with an injector to get out of operable range of the AHMG. Even less for a dropship. LAV's... well, yea, lol LAV's.
So its the weakest form of AV, and really really random anti-infantry.
It shouldnt be as high DPS as the other HMG's obviously, but to make it entirely RNG based? Comn now..
You CAN get semi-consistent accuracy if you do the oldschool method of crouching with it, but its still too close range of a weapon to justify crouching. You just end up getting wrecked.
Usually banned for being too awesome.

The problem I have with it is that it overheats right as I'm about to finish off an HAV. If I can get close enough and I'm running a ADV AHMG with 3 damage mods on my Cal Sent, I can get within 25% armor on most HAVs, but then I overheat. The tank has plenty of time to react and smart pilots GTFO when they start noticing they're taking damage, but when I finally catch someone or they wait too long to leave, I still can't kill them because of overheat.
Reduce the heat buildup and lets see how it performs.
Hello, is this thing on?

The AHMG should not ramp up to a better dispersion, but instead be accurate no matter how long you fire. It is meant as a "focused aggression" kind of weapon while the regular HMG is a suppressive fire weapon.

I'm not calling for a buff per se. This has always been a massive flaw with the Assault HMG and I think it needs some kind of correcting.
I don't want the Assault HMG to become a long range tornado of instant lead poisoning, I just want it to actually function properly at longer ranges which is the entire point of the weapon.

So.. you're asking for a short range weapon to get mid range accommodations? Use a mid-range weapon if you want to fight at mid range. Kind of obvious.
Also, I see plenty of people dying to AHMG at 30-50M. Seems the spread isn't as bad as you claim. :/
