So i was thinking how every suit has its downfalls and its upsides. For example : A scout has the mobility, but less armor. A heavy has armor, but is slow. An assault is fast, and powerful. Really no downside their. BUT A LOGi has a lot of downfalls and not very many good things.
So a logi has equipment slots, so what. My only survivable logis have no more than 450 Armor 200 Shields. That isnt anything when a logi has to take the most hits, besides the heavy. So tell me again why a logi has over half the amount of ehp as an assault, but yet an assault almost has the same amount of equipment slots.
Actually why does any suit have more than 1 equipment slot, except for a logi. Ohh.. so i get 60% less ehp, but its ok.. i get one more equipment slot and my suit cost 80,000 isk - 200,000 isk a suit.

I still don't know why Scouts have two Equipment slots. It is something that really bothers me considering that half of the Logistics in the game start with two slots. I know it was added so Scouts could all be about the Cloak but I wish there was something that made Scouts have to use Cloaks or even better have that slot only be able to fit a Cloak. Equipment should be the Logistics thing.
Equipment is really expensive, especially considering Prototype is so superior compared to Basic and Advanced. That is a potential issue and Rattati has made statements that they might look into the cost.
EHP is really not an issue. Think of it like this instead: If Logistics had an extra 150 EHP, why would you pick an Assault suit? Hell, I already run into that thought. Assaults may "have no downside" but they have zero upside. Most other suits get more than they give up for those bonuses. Assaults, not so much. Jeez, the only Assault that seems to be worth a darn is the Minmatar Assault and that is only because it gives up less than it receives; slightly less EHP and moving very, very fast. Otherwise, the only difference between a Frame and an Assault is a minor HP bonus and some lackluster bonuses to weapons.

Simple: it is more than possible to go Repair Tool + Needle/Uplink and be just as good as a Basic Amarr or Caldari Logistics. It has a little bit too much overlap. Yes, they are not able to throw out all the equipment but it still steps on the Logistics toes quite a bit. As big of a deal as it was pre-BW? No but still a concern that I have.
There are some problems with the Logistics as a role, yes, but the original poster is exaggerating some of the ones they brought up.

But you can always adjust the EQ, like giving Reps a capacitor, and then giving a Logi a bonus to Reps to increase capacitors.
There are always other solutions to problems, and sometimes simply removing X from the equation isn't always the best one.

There are always other solutions to problems, and sometimes simply removing X from the equation isn't always the best one. Never suggested it was the only solution. It is, however, the easiest way to make the Scouts still be able to use one other equipment without having them step on the toes of Logistics and still be all about the Cloaks. It is also not a nerf to the Equipment simply because Logistics are easily encroached by Scouts.
As an aside, because it is the natural response to the above, I would say BW was added not to make everyone worse at Equipment than the Logistics but to force people to actually be Logistics if they want to have the benefits of Equipment; IE, no Equipment Spam into being a Heavy.

Really? So you're going to try to attack scouts again? A logi and scout both have similar roles, they support the field. A logi supports actual team mates. A scout support the playing field by picking off loners and so on. A scout to have two equipment slots isn't bad. Scouts aren't front line, they need two equipment slots so can go off alone and help the team. Either it's carrying droplinks and placing them somewhere behind enemy lines. And nano hives to stay supplied. Or remote explosives and cloak to set traps. Yes some of us like to be the tip of the spear but it's not as easy to pull off as a assault world. So again what's your point in this? Want to remove our equipment slot as well? |

Scout:Light mechanized suit built for enhanced recon and biotic functions Strength:Undisputed rulers of Ewar and Biotics Weakness:Low health and regain
Assault:The power house, these suits soul purpose is to get in and decimate the opposition and if needed retreat for a quick recovery. Strength:High regain and Sustained Damage Weakness:Medium health, low max stamina
Logistics:Built to support those in need, fragile by itself but when coupled with other offensive units it becomes a major force amplifier, a real pain in the ass. Strength:Equipment masters,High max stamina Weakness:Slow, weak, prone to death
Sentinel:The guardians of the units built to suck up damage and laugh at the opponents face as they get wreaked for even considering stepping into its domain Strength: High HP Weakness:Ewar,Mobility, Medium Fire power
Commando:Heavy units stripped of their armor and electrical systems in change for a boost to Damage of the weapons they wield. Prone to engaging into sentinel space they quickly learn their mistake, but put them in point defense and the back of an onslaught and their power is truly realized. Strength: Insanely High fire power Weakness: Mobility,Ewar,Slightly above medium health
This is how I'd like it to be.

All the support bonuses and equipment in the world are pointless if the suit dies too quickly to be of any use.
There seems to be a general mentality that any sort of buff to the Logistics survivability will result in "OMFG SLAYER LOGI" but the fact remains that this mentality it....well completely stupid. The survivability between a Logistics suit and an Assault suit is far too large, and you can still buff the Logistics in terms of survivability and they will still be behind the Assault in terms of defense.
The fact remains that yes, you will get killed by Logistics sometimes. It's a FPS shooter, Logistics have a gun, and its not just there to look pretty, so they should be capable of being lethal. That doesn't mean they're an "OMFG SLAYER SUIT" because EVERYTHING in the game has its own way of killing you, and they should be capable of doing so. That being said they need proper survivability in order to properly fill their role. Even if you gave Logistics the same slot layout as Assaults and gave them 100 more base HP, they would still have less HP than an Assault; that's how large the difference is between the suits currently.
Logistics need a buff.

Logistics need a buff. What the community fails to see is that anything can be a slayer. Anyone can take any suit and become a slayer, especially if they use proto |

The logi suits do have the same slot layout as assault suits, you know in addition to the 4-3 equipment slots they have. I do however agree that logi suits should be buffed. For a second I thought "Buff a force multiplier? That's crazy," but then I remembered everyone would benefit because every team should have a logi so it was a stupid argument.

Been a logi a long time, beginning of open beta was when i started. I have been a logi the entire time. Logi is in a great place. We would definitely benefit from a speed buff, but thats it. I can easily go 2-5k wp, even in ambush, and only die once or twice if I'm trying and playing smart. Play smarter. Disengage and run. I was once told that the best logi is a coward . He runs and stays alive, because a dead logi cannot support his team. That guy was Sev kimura, smart guy. A statement I've based my entire logistics career around.
