I am considering starting a bit of a charity for new/mid level players with emphasis on providing them the gear they need as they grow and learn in the game. I feel like this will work much better than giving out ISK that will just end up burned or given away with little effect on their long term standings within New Eden.
This would be focused around basic and advanced gear so that they can toy with fittings at a reduced cost as they learn.
How many people would be willing to donate their salvage to my charity to fuel it getting started up or would I just be giving away my salvage and then giving up the idea? |

I plan on integrating this with a line of short training videos made while helping newbies to grow the overall effect.
I have still yet to work out 100% of the details I just wanted to see the communities feelings before I started making everything that is needed for my plans. |

Understandable. I know you have a capture card so would love if you would like to do similar training stuff and allow me to link the videos along with my own. |

Surprisingly strong boxes are a good thing for newbies if they are transferable. If you have played on an alt you know that those of us who were not online for the strong box spam have to grind for boxes as well.

I'm always happy to help people, but I wouldn't just blindly send random gear and let you decide what to do with it.
Obviously a valid concern which for now I can not really argue against.
If you do not want to donate to me just drop a squad invite to some of those guys on the bottom of the board and pass them some of the gear from salvage and maybe even advanced AUR gear from strongboxes that you will probably not use and give them a couple of pointers on how to use it.
Before giving ISK to newbies usually meant they were just going to buy more of the fits they were dying in until it was all gone but trading gives us the ability to expand their knowledge of the game somewhat by force and maybe give them a better chance at sticking around.
As a community we can make player trading the best or worst thing to happen to NPE in the history of this game. |

As a community we can make player trading the best or worst thing to happen to NPE in the history of this game. Well....as one of the lucky ones who has enough isk (not trying to humble brag), I can attest to the freedom of being able to play with any of the weapons in the game to be liberating and to also expansive as a player. I agree with you that the new players need to be able to find the weapons which suit them and it needs to be easier for them outside of the lousy payouts from pubs....I just don't know how it would be done. I mean perhaps a collection of known new players would be good BUT also exists the risk of them being alts for veteran players, looking to cash grab free gear or free aurum. The plain and simple fact is that without getting to know every single merc intimately, our Dust 514 is ruthless and shallow and greedy. And that sucks big time.
This is exactly why I am restricting my efforts to what we vets consider junk from salvage and strong boxes. These items can be great for newbies who are not even skilled high enough to run anything else.
You would be shocked what hopping in a match with only you in your squad and inviting all the randoms will do for you finding people that are happy to take a bit of help. Even voicing up in team chat will show you some people anxious to be better at the game. This also keeps the trolls and beggers from joining your squad through squad finder.
A long time ago I did these things and gave away a total of 100s of millions of ISK only to watch it burned up on stocking hundreds of the suits they already had which is why I see player trading as a great opportunity to attempt to help.

Hundreds of militia items of every single type so new players can try all possible combinations and get a feel for what they like, and then once they start skiling into a particular item, I would donate standard tier versions of that item new players should not struggle to buy militia gear, no one should. Only advanced +
Players that are fresh out of the academy are usually thrown to a pack of angry wolves. When you go negative ISK every match and keep wondering around spending your money on skillbooks the tier does not matter. This very low wallet balance also seriously restricts players from just adventuring a bit and spending money on modules they do not even know they need.
The prefit suits were a great stride in this department but they have to first know what those are and how to use them. Those prefit suits also burn up fast even when you have the core skills behind them so for a newbie who does not know how to change a couple of things on it to make it a bit better those are a quick ISK sink as well.
