I am trying to figure out how to identify BPO items that do not specifically say BPO in the title and the more I read in the forums to try to figure this out the less clear it is becoming. In one thread people were talking about BPOs and everyone kept mentioning the Quafe crap that they have.
I have 'Quafe' variants for the Saga, Methana, Gunnlogi, Madrugar, Myron, and Grimsnes. Are these 'Quafe' vehicles BPOs? |

No.
BPOs tend to be standard gear, but there are some "Quaffe" proto items. Those are just Quaffe colored specialty items, but they are consumable.
If you fit something, and it doesn't have that special colored square around it and has a number greater than 1, then its not a BPO .

This is good to know. For the past hour I have been worried that I have been selling BPO crap on the market not realising it. I already accidentally sold my Officer Magsecs because the description simply said it was a prototype weapon and not a 'rare weapon salvaged only in battle". |

Rule of thumb: All BPOs have a blue boarder/background in the item menu. All officer weapons have no symbol I. The top left and have '[name]'s' in front of the name.

I have not sold any Quafe items. I generally only sell standard and advanced crap and sometimes prototypes of weapons I am not skilled into and won't skill into for awhile. |

Infantry, yes.
Vehicles, only LAVs that have the word Blueprint on it. If you receive 'Quafe' Saga x3, it's not a BPO. |

I doubt any of us will be playing dust that long but then again, I started playing dust early 2013, its almost 3 years already haha

Quafe light weapons, HMG and Forge Gun and Nova knives are BPOs whereas Saga, Methana can be BPO or BPC (consumable) and HAV/DS and well as the vehicle turrets are all BPC too.
the all the suits have a STD Quafe BPO variant too available in bundles now and there are also
'Quafe'
Caldari Assault C/I

Gallente Scout Gk.0
which are all BPCs too
