Hi Rattati,
why on earth are you constantly nerfing the EQ players...?
Who has asked for this final nail in the coffin of the uplink? The change to half the amount of spawns with only compensating with 1! extra UL on advanced is completly pathetic.
Let me elaborate, we already have way to few links in the field since the bandwith changes you put in. In most pubs I play in, there seem to be 1-3 uplinkers at most. Usually I'm one of them. I try to find good spots which might take some time, and if the spots are good, the links are exausted within les then 1-2 minutes. So what am I supposed to do, have at least two uplinks for each location and cycle through suits and always bring proto just to have enough spawns?
I often end up dying and my links are already exausted, and nobody had the wisdom to put more down...
I hate this change with a vengeance, since it AGAIN favors the Proto scrubs who don't die and run in logi trains. They will have links at all times, but these will always be where they are, no more strategic backup links for longer periods, because they run out all the time.
This also makes matches more unbalanced, since who ever has perma linkers - wins, and if the link guys decide to go AV, they loose links (because of BW) and usually will spawn with hives to resupply their AV. This is making matches just much more of a drag because you have to run longer ways to get back into the action.
Please please Rattati, make it at least that we can choose, have the quantum variants work as before, so that we can put down some links in save places that last a little longer.
From patch to patch, the link situation worsens, I actually would like to see even a BW reduction for links, since most of the matches I loose are lost because of to few links.
HOWEVER, I like the change for the hives, because it makes sense here! For the links however it only makes the situation worse. I really have less and less fun with the EQ changes, it becomes more and more a chore to support your team. You are locked into a logi suit and can't do anything else, just to keep the momentum of your team, and still you die to the smallest arms fire because you need some speed to get around the map quicker.
The only guys who like these changes are the slayers in fast suits, because they don't need to check for links anywhere, since they insta deplete anyway. It's harder and harder to get your team back into action, but that seems to be wanted anyway!
So happy stomping, to all the proto scrubs, I'll just leave the match in the future, as soon as I see a linkless map on the respawn screen. It's just not worth the hassle!

The reason for that seems to be that I play a lot solo recently, and you often get put in already loosing battles. But even if I'm in it from the start, I usually get the momentum going by good placement, but then suddenly I see a bunch of blues spawning and they obviously insta deplete my advanced links.
I don't want to run proto links all the time, since that's not really viable for me. It's getting expensive fast, and I also have fitting problems, because I have to run a creodron flux if I want to give any decent Intel with my scanner... |

There are still some roofs, but these are seldom good to start an attac.
I usually try to put backup links somewhere betwheen the RL and the objectives. So not on the beaten paths. But since this is usually on foot, it seems a waste if the link only has 6-12 spawns on it. They just deplete to fast. |

O.o But I was talking about how he was too lazy to place uplinks as his excuse was "jumping players". They tend not to jump when you kill them.
That's correct, but they might get the link before they are dead... And the point still stands, that the myos have reduced the save spots for links quite a bit. If that's good or bad remains to be seen. I just would like to have links with more spawns for locations that are a bit further away from the action... |

Thor Odinson42 wrote:If the end result is farming WP then I guess I'd agree.
But if the end result was to allow for more flexibility in placing uplinks as you push into various areas of the map with your squad, I'd say your thread is a complete fail.
Hopefully things keep going in the direction of rewarding conflict and not passive equipment placement.
Well running with a squad is not always possible or desireable.
My point is, that uplinks in backup positions have a high strategic value, and are depleted to fast, resulting in stalling the momentum of your team. Just because I put uplinks in places that are not easily found, makes me a wp farmer? Seriously?
I run my ass of in many matches to resupply my team, and keep the links up, and that makes me a wp farmer? In my opinion matches are onesided because the loosing side often can't keep the momentum due to the scarcety of links. So if they see no links on the map, they know, if they run to the point, they'll be on their own, and will be slayn by the proto hordes with blood in their eyes. I want to change that by giving more possibilitys to keep up the momentum for the weaker team. That should be in your interest for good battles. Or do you prefer your catch the redberry runaround protostomps so much? I can make wp galore either way. If i'm just about these, I would put the links on the highest roof at all times, since that's guaranteed points AND a guaranteed loss for my team! |

I still think, the recent link changes are favouring the already stronger teams. The low spawn high carried design caters to squad logis who rarely die, and just drop a link in close proximity when a squadmate dies. So they're perfect for zerging. But they are crap if you want a spawn behind your homepoint that is still there even after half the match is over (good placement is obviously important for these to not be found by scouts).
Taking out these possibilities altogether is bad, since the uplinks you constantly drop close to the fight will also be taken out very fast.
I have cleared complete buildings of uplinks in less then 5 seconds with a massdriver, so the close uplinks do not help to keep up the momentum. And it's not practical to redrop links in the far positions everytime they deplete. Another aspect of that, is the need to have links on my suit all the time, gimping my other support abilities if I can't afford to run a proto suit with 4 slots. Before I had two typical pub loadouts, one with links and scanner, and one with inj rep hive. By alternating, I coudl help in most situations. Now, I have to stay in the links suit, because the links deplete faster thatn you can redeploy them, especcially if you want to take part in the fight. That also means I can't carry other stuff to help my team.
The guys who run proto in a squad at all times will not have these problems. |

Exactly, if you have the means, and don't want to run all the time, you have to dedicate yourself to it. But it also forces you into that role and you loose all variety... |

I like your thinking, but wouldn't it be cooler, if you could trigger built in remotes on enemy uplinks? Would save you a EQ slot! |

Although I haven't personally been in too many matches where there are no uplinks (I'm usually dropping them )
Uplinks have had a nerf every major update it seems ( I'm not sure if this has to do with trying to improve game performance)
You could say in echo it was two because mirofibs have made tracking/killing uplinks easier
Reduced spawns should = reduced bandwidth
maybe there is some data the devs are seeing that shows they were being abused or felt that uplinks should require some kind of babysitting ?
It's usually either or, either it's completely plastered with links (more than before the hotfix) or there is no link whatsoever (maybe one or two...).
I actually think that the good linkers drop even more, to compensate for the quick depletion...

In which regard, the camping or the remotes, or just the fact that they decide quite a few battles recently? |
