What? Why not? It's the only conventional tank turret and its lost its splash?
You absolutely sure about this because that's a right bugger.
Raphael: I'm warning you. Do not leave me here. I will find you.
Castiel: Maybe one day. Today you're my little bitch

You absolutely sure about this because that's a right bugger. I thought they removed that splash a LONG time ago. I went 19/0 last night landing direct hits, so dunno that they really need splash. And use a heatsink, nuff said. That's not the point. When you fire a tank shell it explodes more oft than not that's part of the functionality of them. I guess you could justify this railround a KE penetrator but equally you could justify it as a Javelin Rounds with a pulse detonator and iridium flechettes.
Why don't people in Dust want tanks to be tanks?

Why don't people in Dust want tanks to be tanks? Because they are afraid of what the true power could be... AKA they don't want them to be armored death machines that are incredibly expensive and very hard to blow up, but are able to kill infantry. In turn they want them to be fairly weak, fairly difficult to kill infantry, and make it so they can't dodge AV... However in the past when I say stuff in-game I get told I don't know what it's like to be infantry facing tanks. Whilst I'm able to run Amarr Assault, Min Sentinel, and Min Scout.... EDIT: They hate us because they don't know what it's like on the flip side of the coin... We spend outrageous amount of ISK (based off of risk v reward) on a Vehicle that can be lost in seconds of the game starting due to bugs, other team starting off in AV, falling under the map, losing all of your shield from rolling down a hill... The list goes on and on... How will Infantry use their precious gear? By making mistakes that can be avoided (not 100% of the time) However as time goes on Vehicle specialists are losing representation in more ways than one... Tank fights used to be an insane amount of fun... But based off of some of the things I'm seeing now... It may be going down hill but I can't say that until my new controller arrives...
No what I mean is that even most tankers don't want tanks to be tanks. They apparently don't like high explosive single shot cannon with low rates of fire, good range, and accuracy requirements.

I understand where you are going... However in a sense... Isn't a FG able to have higher DPS than Large rails gun at the moment? What I want is for all this SP into vehicles to turn into me being able to be more versatile instead of being forced to get out of dodge by a single infantryman... Which doesn't seem like it should be a thing given it takes a certain amount of skill to snipe off infantry nowadays, when compared to a clear and easy target such as our vehicles... I've always liked HAV vs HAV, however after the addition of spread to the large blaster, it's been getting tough avoiding AV fire let alone fighting it...
Precisely why tankers should be using cover, range, and explosive fire power to counter their enemies.

Precisely why tankers should be using cover, range, and explosive fire power to counter their enemies. Then why not give us a form of artillery? Railguns are fine and dandy but require precise aim... Missiles aren't that great due to splash damage... Blasters, aren't good at all because they require you to be too up close and personal vs infantry... Finding cover isn't as easy as it might seem... Often times infantry would simply be able to peek a corner pop a round/salvo or two and go back to safety where as we'd be forced to go behind a large hill or building.... All the while infantry could be running toward your hiding position to continue the attack. It's hard to counter strafing... That's to say the least, if you have a kin kat'd suit shooting at you with swarms whilst they are strafing, you're going to have a rough time trying to engage and finish that target esp. at range and or whilst trying to peek around cover...
I've suggested many Blaster fixes before including explosive ordinance blasters, plasma cannon blasters, hell I even agree with shotgun blasters....anything is better than GIANT .50 Calibre!

Why don't people in Dust want tanks to be tanks? A better question is why you want HAV's to only perform like modern tanks.
Conventionalism for the sake of better gameplay or so I believe. More explosions, heavier vehicles, more powerful both audibly and physically, make vehicles look and sound like they have and engine, a powerful main gun, kick up dust on the road ways, skid to a halt, etc.
While not to demean any developers efforts to improve them they kind of feel weightless.
