I know that the mylolflys are fun and I'm sure many lulz will be had with them, but is anyone else just a bit put off by how silly they are? We are bouncing around like Goku on methamphetamine; that does not create a picture of a stern, militaristic, mercenary fighting force.
Does anyone else get the impression that Dust 514 is becoming less and less set in New Eden with each patch?
Not saying it is not fun, because it is! Just... not New Eden at all.
Am I the only one?

New Eden has to be super serious?
We will gauge the stacking heights, and reevaluate, but I think tactics just changed and I don't think it's very silly, more like future scifi parkour elite warriors. Why run and climb if you can have combat drugs. These aren't jumppacks though. I think I could swallow a new piece of equipment that gave us jump height, but the idea of a stim doing it just seems wrong. Maybe it's all in my head.
And yes, New Eden must be super serious, by the way. The players are the ones who should take the seriousness and turn it on it's head, not the game itself.

It's removes me from the mindset that I am a badass space mercenary when we have 100 pound scout dropsuits skyrocketing over buildings in one leap, unassisted by propulsion save their own meaty legs.

I don't want to be a ******* superhero. I want to be a human at peak physical condition who happens to be immortal. My superpower, if I was forced to have one, is that I retain my memories and consciousness after I am reborn into my replacement clone.

byte modal wrote:Not trying to be thick here, honest question: is it a technicality that you do not like as opposed to the ability? I mean, if it were a module... pack... mechanical augmentation... however you want to define it other than a biotic stim, would you have still pushed back against it? I mean, that's what... an icon and definition update? Just curious. If it was a piece of equipment that represented a modified exoskeleton or some kind of jumppack then I would be more accepting. A stim, to me, would just get the maximum out of the human body possible.
The highest standing vertical jump is 117cm (3.83ft.). We will double it because we are in powered armor... so 234cm (7.67ft.) Furthermore, our clones are designed for physical effort so let's bump that up to 8.5ft. just for peace of mind.
That is not even close to the heights we are reaching with this new stim. If we had some machine assistance I wouldn't have a problem rationalizing a 100ft. jump straight up in the air with only a short running start.

I just hope I can play with it for some time before it all gets scaled down =\. Tribes is hella fun, but it isn't the game I want Dust 514 to be. It's sad to see the New Eden slowly drain out of Dust like this. I have a feeling a more whacky Dust 514 is easier to sell.

Sad. New Eden's harsh combat philosophy doesn't make CCP the kind of money they would like so they are making concessions. That's the best reason I can come up with for the implementation of jumping myofibs.
