Pretty sure the HMG nerfs were talked about in the Hotfix Echo Narrative...

The HMG was registering a massive Kills per Second, higher than any other weapon. It occupied three of the top 10 PC weapons. It was overpowered, homie. Accept it, embrace it, adapt to this balancing pass.

Robin, HMG sentinel's rein of terror has ended. You don't have to respec to earn SP and try out an assault or scout dropsuit. The sky is not falling, I promise.

robin williams' ghost wrote:Just like there was only one option before: HMG sent?Thank you for proving my point. There are now only two options, scout or assault/ scrambler riflesWhat will counter them? Oh right.... nothing
The service rifles (RR, ScR, AR, CR) are all decent. Try them out. It won't kill you if you leave your sentinel dropsuit... well, it will because you will die way more often, but it's a turn of phrase work with me here.
Now you know how the assaults have felt for months now.

 Karma is a biiiiiiiitch.

robin williams' ghost wrote:It wasn't me crying that got your OP weapon balanced, it was the data. You saw CCP Rattati's post about the HMG's overperformance, right? It was an I Win button strapped to an extremely durable frame. You're a fking idiot. What do you plan to cry about next?
C'mon, you had to know how OP this thing was. Don't tug our chains.

robin williams' ghost wrote:Probably the CR, since they are currently trending upwards in terms of Kills per Spawn as well. That's based on data, not emotion. Emotion being something you are running on right nowWhat do you plan on crying about next?

robin williams' ghost wrote:The RE scout was, almost literally, the only counter the HMG sentinel. Speaking of crying...As for heavies being op, have you ever even used one? Have you ever had your ass handed to you by re scouts who can ohk your entire squad and you're gunna tell me hmgs are op?

robin williams' ghost wrote:I run in a squad with 9 out of 10 matches. Ask Clone D, I don't solo.Maybe in a tight little bunker with a logi on him. That's called teamwork, but you are probably a solo player that thinks teamwork is op too.

robin williams' ghost wrote:Nah, I'm good. If you ran HMG sentinels for any length of time I fear your "skills" at Dust have probably long since atrophiedWait, so you run with a squad and don't know how to kill heavies without using remotes? Lol you need to learn how to play this game. I'm willing to teach you if you're willing. Once you realise there's several counters to any given suit you'll stop whining all the time and start enjoying the game.
As for me enjoying Dust 514, I like my time spent playing Dust just fine. Will enjoy it more now that HMG sents are less of a problem. I'm actually looking forward to my HMG sent-less matches tonight! It's gonna be a good time.

robin williams' ghost wrote:I've got to be completely honest with you, I don't pay attention to who kills me. I pay attention to what kills me: HMG sents (by far), MinAssault CR (runner up), and the odd KNer or SGer.Humor me for a second. Think up all the seriously op players in the game, the guys like kaizuki sniper with 11.whatever kdrs. Make yourself a list in your head of all the nasty players you hate going up against. Ok, got your list together? Good.
Now how many of them run sentinels?

I'm not being difficult, just telling you how I am.

Jade Dragonis wrote:Because Dust's meta comes from PC. Everything that becomes popular in PC trickles down to FW and pubs a month or two later. PC is the canary in the coalmine. So the Kill Per Spawn in PC decided this nerf? Who plays PC anymore?
I would have thought the bulk of the community plays in Pubs. The place where anytime someone comes out in a heavy suit he is taken out by RE's and Scrambler rifles and CR and shotguns and Core grenades. Where The HMG is not the most prevalent weapon at all.

But we base the change on PC?

 Why?

Just throwing this out there, but I'm also willing to bet that Rattati didn't base the entire HMG balancing effort on PC. He probably reviewed the other gamemodes too.

Jade Dragonis wrote:I see both MinAssault + CR and Amarr sent + HMG in pubs. Not sure what gamemode you are playing though. So if HMG's are the 'Meta' in PC why did stacked MinAss trickle down and not HMG fits?
Surely the Meta to counter then HMG such as RE's stacked MinAss and the rest does work as I have seen loads in Pubs would have negated the need for a nerf at all?

And RE's being prevalent are in part due to it being one of best hard counters to the HMG sentinel and his posse of logis. They are the symptom of a greater disease: HMG sents.
